The Vancouver Canadians turned the tables on the Eugene Emeralds by taking four of five at Nat Bailey Stadium this week. That was after Eugene did the same to the C's just over a week ago in Oregon. Here's some notes and photos of the series clinching victory at Nat Bailey Stadium Tuesday night.

C's starter Evan Smith won his second straight game against the Cubs affiliate by extending his scoreless innings streak to 11, pitching six frames of four-hit ball and striking out five.

Third baseman Carl Wise makes the throw to first in time to record one of Evan Smith's eight ground ball outs.

Ryan Hissey pulls one to right field for a ground-rule double in the second inning to give the C's their first hit of the game. He would later be picked off at second, a call he and manager John Schneider objected to.

Toronto native Connor Panas tosses the bat away after drawing a leadoff walk in the third inning.

Earl Burl III ducks to get out of the way of a high offering from Emeralds hurler Oscar De La Cruz. EB3 would ground out to third to advance Connor Panas to second where he would be stranded.

Gunnar Heidt gallops to third base after a Lane Thomas ground out in the fourth inning. Heidt got aboard on a leadoff walk before stealing second.

Gunnar Heidt dives back to third base after rounding the bag but an errant throw from first base gets away from Emerals third baseman Adonis Paul and allows Heidt to get up and score the game's first run.

Lane Thomas drives one up the middle in the sixth for an RBI single to score Gunnar Heidt, who scored his second run of the night after a single and another stolen base.

Brandon Hinkle took over for fellow lefty Evan Smith in the seventh and erased his only baserunner by starting a 1-6-3 double play after walking the leadoff man in the eighth.

Andrew Case - far right - sandwiched an Eloy Jimenez home run and a flyout with two punchouts in the ninth to record his sixth save of the season in the C's 3-1 triumph over the Emeralds. From left to right are Ryan Borucki, winning pitcher Evan Smith, Sean Hurley, Gabriel Cenas and Connor Panas.

Radar gun readings had Evan Smith throwing 80-84 and 92-93 miles per hour and reached 98 once. His K pitches were at 80, 93, 93, 82 and 84 - all swinging. Smith helped himself with the glove by handling a bunt and throwing to home to get a runner at the plate to help him wiggle out of a first-and-third jam in the sixth. He also induced a 5-3-6 twin-killing to cut down a runner at third in the fifth. Brandon Hinkle clocked in at 74-85 and Andrew Case checked in at 84-93 with his swinging K's at 84 and 87.

After a 4-2 win over the Em's in the series finale Wednesday afternoon, the 15-19 C's look to continue their roll as they take on the Tri-City Dust Devils, a Padres affiliate, Thursday to Saturday. The series opener and closer are set for 7:05 pm Pacific Time at The Nat with the middle game at 1:05 pm Friday. The first 1,000 fans Thursday will get an Aaron Sanchez bobblehead doll.
