Buffalo, NY — In the continuation of a game that was suspended due to fog Monday, the Bisons had five at-bats to work with to overcome a one-run deficit. Jonathan Diaz and Luke Scott drew walks to lead off the fifth and sixth and Diaz got a one-out double in the seventh but he was stranded at third base. Diaz was the last man to reach base as the Herd went down in order in the final two frames. Sean Ochinko got the Bisons on the board with an RBI double but he was denied a second run batted in when Daric Barton was thrown out at the plate to end the fourth inning. Ochinko and Barton had two-hit games while Scott drew two walks. Ramon Santiago had a base hit and Andy Burns had a base on balls. Matt Hague, Brad Glenn and Alex Hassan all went 0-for-4 and struck out twice. Buffalo was 1-for-7 with runners in scoring position and left seven on base.
Daniel Norris (1-5, 3.38) was nicked for a couple of runs in the first two innings by the Yankees affiliate. Despite five hits and three walks, he kept this game from going off the rails by limiting Scranton to a couple of runs over five frames. He picked off a runner at first and struck out three for a Game Score of 51. Norris set down six in a row at one point. Phil Coke got away with a hit and two walks to put up two scoreless frames that included two punchouts. Fellow lefty reliever Colt Hynes put up a pair of zeros despite a couple of hits and struck out three. Both Coke and Hynes hit a batter.
Scranton/Wilkes-Barre 5 Buffalo 1 (Game 2 - 7 Innings)
The Bisons find themselves at 28-31 after being swept in this doubleheader. Chad Jenkins held the Scranton offence to a single run on six hits over four innings. He struck out one, walked nobody and got six ground ball outs to post a Game Score of 47. Todd Redmond (1-2) did not have it relief as he was rocked for four runs on three hits and three walks in 1/1-3 innings. Rob Rasmussen stranded a runner and offset two walks with three K's in 1-2/3 innings.
The Bisons got on the board first with a first-inning run when Andy Burns had an RBI single with the bases loaded. However, that was all the Herd would get as Daric Barton would ground into an inning-ending double play. Burns and Caleb Gindl had the two-hit games for Buffalo with Gindl getting a double. Luke Scott singled, walked and was hit by a pitch. He was replaced by Chris Dickerson, who also had a base hit. Josh Thole also put a notch in the hit column. Matt Hague reached twice on a walk and a plunk. Barton drew a base on balls. Ramon Santiago was 0-for-4 while Alex Hassan and Jonathan Diaz were both 0-for-3. Stop me if you heard this before but Buffalo was 1-for-7 with runners 180 feet away or less. This time, a total of 10 men were stranded.
New Hampshire 9 Akron 1
Akron, OH — The Fisher Cats used 14 hits to hammer the Indians affiliate in this series opener. Ronald Torreyes opened the scoring with an RBI single in the third inning, drove in another with a double in the seventh and singled home two more in the ninth. However, the big swings belonged to K.C. Hobson as he homered twice to drive in three runs in the fourth and sixth. Dalton Pompey drew a bases-loaded walk in the ninth and another run came home on a wild pitch. Jack Murphy joined Torreyes in the three-hit club with both of them collecting a double. Torreyes also stole a base. Pompey was aboard four times with two hits and two walks and swiped a bag. Jorge Flores was 2-for-3 with a walk while Melky Mesa and Kevin Nolan were both 1-for-5. Cole Garner and Dwight Smith Jr. were 0-for-4 but Garner was hit by a pitch while Smith contributed a run scored.Matt Boyd (6-1, 1.10) allowed just four baserunners over seven innings on two hits and two walks. The only run came on a home run but Boyd struck out four for a Game Score of 71. Seven of his 10 outs in play were made in the outfield. Jimmy Cordero walked a couple but struck out a batter over two scoreless frames.
Charlotte 11 Dunedin 5
Dunedin, FL — It was just 1-0 for Charlotte after three innings but things got out of hand after that. Luis Santos (3-5, 5.22) was lambasted by the Rays affiliate for six runs on six hits and two walks over 3-1/3 innings. He struck out four but only received a Game Score of 26. Matt Dermody allowed his two inherited runners to score but pitched 2-2/3 innings of scoreless ball on three hits and a walk while whiffing one. Brady Dragmire was burned for three runs on five hits and two walks but struck out three over two innings. Phil Kish gave up a two-run homer among his two hits in the ninth.
All of Dunedin's five runs came in the eighth inning. Jorge Saez singled home a Dickie Joe Thon triple to get Dunedin on the board. L.B. Dantzler drew a bases-loaded walk, Matt Dean singled home a pair and Thon drove in the last run with a base hit. Saez, Thon, J.D. Davis and Christian Lopes all had two hits apiece with Davis adding a double. Dantzler and Lopes both reached three times by working the count to ball four. Roemon Fields and Boomer Collins also had singles. Mitch Nay was 0-for-4.

San Pedro de Macoris, DR — Despite a converted touchdown's worth of errors, the boys in the Dominican joined the parent club in the walk-off winners circle by also turning a one-run deficit into a one-run victory. Norberto Obeso singled home the tying run with two outs in the ninth inning before Kevin Vicuna, who got aboard with a walk, scored the winner on a wild pitch. The losing pitcher was Erick Encarnacion. Sterling Guzman gave the Jays their first run with a double to cash in a Cristian Peguero walk in the second. The Jays pulled ahead 3-2 in the fourth on a Jesus Navarro RBI single and an error. Guzman and Peguero had the two-hit games with Guzman getting two doubles and Peguero getting hit by a pitch. Obeso and Navarro also took one for the team. Antonio Concepion singled and walked while Francisco Rodriguez had a base hit in four official at-bats.Juan Nunez got the start but only got two outs as he walked the bases loaded. He would be charged with two unearned runs as Yensy Diaz allowed both of his inherited runners to score but had no runs charged to him over 4-1/3 innings on three hits and a hit by pitch while whiffing four. Jairo Rosario had an unearned run on his ledger as he surrendered two hits, three walks and a plunk over 2-2/3 innings. Pedro Diaz could stranded just one of three inherited runners and gave up an earned run on three walks over two-thrids of an inning. Wilmin Lara (1-0) could only strand one of two runners as he allowed a hit over two-thirds of a frame.
