Only two teams played on Sunday and both loss. Buffalo lost a tight game for the third straight day, this one a 1-0 loss that wasted a good start from Andrew Albers. New Hampshire took a 4-0 lead but lost 11-4.
Buffalo 0 Norfolk 1
The offense for the Bisons has gone quiet, perhaps because Chris Colabello and Andy Wilkins are gone and Dalton Pompey has not started hitting yet. Pompey was 1-4 on Sunday and is hitting just .143 in AAA. But Pompey has only struck out 3 times in 28 at bats. In other words he has put the ball in play 25 times and has just 4 hits, a BABIP of 160. That should improve. Ryan Schimpf had two hits, Andy Burns went 1-3 and had the only extra base hit, a double.
Andrew Albers pitched very well and an unearned run gave him the loss. Julio Borbon doubled and went to third on a Chris Dickerson error in the sixth inning. A sac fly scored the winning run. Albers went seven innings, seven hits, one walk, four K's.
Trenton 11 New Hampshire 4
New Hampshire took a 4-0 lead in the second inning off Yankee prospect Luis Severino. Kevin Nolan hit a two run home run, Jorge Flores added an RBI double and Dwight Smith an RBI single. The Fisher Cats ended with 9 hits, KC Hobson, Nolan and Flores had two each. Smith, Nolan, Hobson and Flores have batting averages over .300. Smith leads that foursome in OPS at 841.
Trenton chipped away at that four run deficit. John Anderson went four innings and gave up four runs, leaving the game tied. Tiago Da Silva took the loss, allowing two runs in 2.1 innings. Arik Sikula has lost his form from last season, he gave up five runs in 2 innings and now sports a 19.80 ERA.
