Lansing went 16 innings for the win, and that is tough to do early in the season. Rowdy Tellez hit a two run home run for the win and Andrew Case pitched well to get the win. Buffalo won as Scott Copeland was once again excellent. Copeland got 16 ground ball outs. New Hampshire and Dunedin lost.
Lehigh Valley 1 Buffalo 5
Scott Copeland was strong again. seven innings of one run ball. Copeland is a sinker ball type pitcher, the induced 16 ground balls versus one fly ball. That suggests he is not in line to replace Aaron Sanchez but he could be an effective reliever.
Matt Hague hit a three run home run in the first and ended with two hits. Chris Colabello hit a two run home run in the third, he had three hits. Munenori had two doubles. I am not sure how Andy Burns and Hague will co-exist, we will have to watch for that.
New Hampshire 5 New Britain 8
Taylor Cole hasn't found his good form this year, he left in the third innings with four runs conceded. Cory Burns was hit around also and took the loss. Danny Barnes gave up a couple of hits and his first earned run of the year.
Dwight Smith hit hit first home run of the season, he is hitting .310. Jake Fox had three hits, Kevin Nolan, Jack Murphy and Shane Opitz had two each.
Bradenton 6 Dunedin 0
Only three hits for the jays and Jayson Aquino was pounded for eight hits in five innings. Alberto Tirado pitched two innings and allowed a run.
Lansing 4 Great Lakes 2 - 16 innings
Lansing outlasted Great Lakes who had to go to a position player to pitch in the 16th. Rowdy Tellez hit a two run home run for the win. Tellez had a couple of hits, as did Ryan McBroom and DJ Davis. Dickie Thon had three.
Both tandem starters, Starlyn Suriel and Shane Dawson went five innings. The line of the night belongs to Andrew case who pitched four shutout innings in extras to get the win.
