Anthony Gose was fantastic, Lansing moved a step closer to the playoffs, and the GCL squad wrapped up a disappointing season.
Buffalo 11 Scranton/WB 3
A monster game indeed for Anthony Gose. Gose singled, doubled, and homered. He drove in six runs, stole a base, and naturally, struck out once. Dalton Pompey set up Gose’s bases-clearing double by legging out a routine grounder. Pompey had two hits himself, including two RBI’s and a walk. A.J. Jimenez homered and doubled. On the mound Kendall Graveman was solid through five and a third. He struck out seven, walked two, and allowed three earned on seven hits.
Harrisburg 9 New Hampshire 3
Andy Burns homered, Jon Berti was on base three times, and Melky Mesa had three hits, but no pitching doomed New Hampshire. Austin Bibens-Dirkx was tagged for six earned runs over four innings of work and Justin Jackson was touched for three more (two earned).
Lansing 9 Dayton 3
Lansing is making a wee bit of a playoff push. They are now just a game back with four to go. Jason Leblebijian had four hits to lead the offence. Matt Dean had two doubles and Justin Atkinson had three hits. Brent Powers allowed three runs (two earned) over five innings of work, while relievers Chase Wellbrock and Scott Silverstein combined to pitch four shutout innings.
Vancouver 2 Eugene 4
Richard Urena and Canadian Mike Reeves had two hits. Franklin Barreto singled and walked twice. Barreto also stole two bases. Bit of a bullpen blow up as Andrew Case was tagged for three runs in his inning of work. Starter Chase Mallard was solid over five and two-thirds innings of work—striking out seven while allowing just the one earned run.
Pulaski 7 Bluefield 8
Bluefield squeaked by the Seattle affiliate in a game that probably should not have been as close as it was. Bluefield scored seven runs in the third only to see Pulaski chip away and ultimately tie the game in the ninth. Bluefield then walked off Pulaski on a Kevin Garcia single. Josh Almonte was four-for-four, Aaron Attaway (great baseball name) had three hits, and Lydell Moseby had three hits, including a homerun. Moseby drove in four.
GCL Blue Jays 2 GCL Yankees1 4
The GCL squad wrapped up their season with a loss. Sean Reid-Foley struck out six over three innings. Nick Wells followed and worked three and two-thirds, striking out two. Both pitchers allowed two earned runs. Dave Pepe had two hits.
