Four wins at the top of the system, five losses at the bottom. Brett Lawrie had one hit for Dunedin, Emilio Guerrero, Jorge Saez and Shane Opitz each had three in the same game. Roberto Osuna pitched for Dunedin too and all that firepower led to a win. New Hampshire swept a doubleheader behind good pitching from Scott Copeland and Austin Bibens-Dirkx. Brad Mills pitched well for Buffalo but Ryan Tepera got the win as the Bisons rallied late.
Lansing lost even though Mitch Nay homered. Vancouver scored a lot but their pitching let Boise score even more. It was a terrible loss for Vancouver. The Boise left fielder pitched three shutout innings and stayed pitching after Boise tied the game. The winning/losing run scored on a wild pitch. Jesus Tinoco had a bad night as Bluefield lost but Richard Urena had two more hits. The GCL Jays lost both ends of a doubleheader.
Indianapolis 2 Buffalo 4
Buffalo scored 3 in the seventh for the win. Adron Chambers drove in two and Kevin Pillar drove in the insurance run. Earlier Ryan Schimpf had homered. The Bisons had none hits, Jon Diaz had two.
Brad Mills went 6.2 innings, four hits, two runs, no walks, 5 K's. Ryan Tepera got the win in relief and Bobby Korecky the save.
Reading 2 New Hampshire 5 - game 1
Scott Copeland pitched a complete game six hitter with 9 K's. The two runs he allowed were after the Cats had a 5-0 lead.
Both teams had six hits, NH bunched four of them in the fourth inning. Combined with an error and a hit better the Cats scored four runs. The other run came on a home run by KC Hobson.
Reading 2 New Hampshire 9 - game 2
NH had 12 hits, Andy Burns had 3 to boost his average to .260. Jack Murphy, Jorge Flores and Andy Fermin had two hits each.
Austin Bibens-Dirkx went six innings of 4 hit ball for the win. Gregory Infante got the save.
Palm Beach 8 Dunedin 10
The Cardinals scored four in the ninth to make the score more respectable. The number 6 to number 9 hitters for the Jays went 10-16 with two home runs and three doubles. Emilio Guerrero, Shane Opitz and Jorge Saez each went 3-4, Saez and Gustavo Pierre homered. Brett Lawrie was 1-3 with a walk and two K's.
Roberto Osuna started and pitched 3.1 innings. On the positive side he had six K's but he did give up 3 runs on four hits. Griffin Murphy got the win in relief.
Lansing 1 Great Lakes 3
Starlyn Suriel had one bad inning and it cost him. In the fourth two walks were followed by a two out 3 run home run an that was enough to lose. Suriel went five and gave up 4 hits and 3 walks. Alonzo Gonzalez pitched the last three innings.
The Lugnuts had seven hits but they didn't bunch them. Three hitters had two hits, Mitch Nay, DJ Davis and Justin Atkinson. Nay hit a home run.
Vancouver 10 Boise 11 - 11 innings
Vancouver had the bats working and they led 9-2 in the sixth, but it was all downhill from their as the pitching gave up too many runs. As far as I can tell Boise brought in their left fielder to pitch in the ninth down four runs. But Boise kept him in after they tied the game and he got the win. Zak Wasilewski gave up two runs through five innings but added four more in the sixth for six total runs allowed. Joe Lovecchio was the goat as he gave up four runs in the ninth to let Boise tie the game. To cap off the disaster the winning run scored on a wild pitch from Yeyfry Del Rosario.
A couple of college hitters are playing well in the Northwest. Gunnar Heidt had three more hits to run his average to 500. Max Pentecost had four hits, Ryan McBroom had 3 including a home run. Michael De La Cruz also had 3 hits.
Bluefield 3 Bristol 7
Jesus Tinoco was hit around, he has been hittable this season. Hitters have 47 hits off Tinoco in 36 innings. Tinoco made a couple of errors himself and only three of the 7 runs off him were earned. Even with those unearned runs Tinoco's ERA is up to 5.45. On the other hand Oscar CAbrera went 4.1 innings and dropped his ERA to 1.37, he has given up 15 hits in 26 innings.
For the hitters Richard Urena and Angel Rojas each had two hits. Urena is now hitting .320.
GCL Jays 2 GCL Tigers 7 - game 1
Grayson Huffman started and did fine, 4 innings one run. Huffman has a 1.50 ERA in 18 innings with only 6 hits allowed. Brandon Hinkle was hit around and took the loss.
The Jays had just four hits, all singles.
GCL Tigers 13 GCL Jays 2 - game 2
In the middle of the second inning the Jays trailed 10-0 and the Tigers had 12 hits. Bobby Wheatley started and gave up 6. Turner Lee as charged with the next 4.
As in game one the Jays had just four hits. Unlike game 1 they were not all singles, Deiferson Barreto had two hits one of them a double.
