On Wednesday the affiliates were 3-5 with a bunch of close losses, and several strong offensive performances. Matt Smoral was strong again for Bluefield, while the offense had 16 hits which amounted to 13 runs.
Indianapolis 4 - Buffalo 5
PJ Walters was nothing spectacular today allowing 4 earned runs over 6 innings. Sergio Santos, Kyle Drabek, and Bobby Korecky each followed with a scoreless inning.
Brett Wallace was 3-5 with 3 RBI, including a solo HR in the 4th inning. In Sean Ochinko's first AAA game of the year he swatted a solo HR as well.
New Hampshire 7 - Binghampton 2Casey Lawrence threw 7 strong innings, allowing 2 earned runs. Mickey Storey followed Casey, with 2 scoreless innings.
Matt Newman hit a solo HR in the first, which was his 5th of the season. Jon Berti was 4-5, with 2 doubles and 2 runs scored.
Dunedin 3 - St Lucie 4After being shuffled down from New Hampshire, Matt Boyd had another decent start for Dunedin. Matt finished with a line of 5IP 4H 2R 1ER 2BB 5SO. Ben White allowed two runs in the 6th, while Jonathan Wandling and Wil Browning each had a scoreless inning relief appearance.
Dunedin scored their 3 runs in the 8th inning. The first came when Gustavo Pierre singled home Marcus Knecht. The next batter Christian Lopes doubled home Shane Optiz, and Gustavo Pierre.
Dayton 3 - Lansing 1Lansing had 3 hits, the only run scored in the 2nd when Dawel Lugo scored after a bunch of Dayton throwing errors.
On the pitching side Brad Allen was solid finishing with a line of 6IP 8H 3R 2ER 1BB 6SO.
Vancouver 7 - Boise 8Jairo Labourt had an excellent start pitching 5 scoreless innings. Alberto Tirado had an outing to forget only recording 2 outs, while allowing 5 runs.
The offense did their part tonight, collecting 13 hits, and 2 walks which amounted to 7 runs. Max Pentecost, Ryan McBroom, Chris Carlson, and Boomer Collins each had 2 hits.
Bluefield 13 - Johnson City 6Matt Smoral had his 3rd consecutive start with only 1 walk, and finished with a line of 4IP 3H 0ER 1BB 4SO. Francisco Rios did not pitch well allowing 6 runs, 4 earned over 4 innings pitched.
The Bluefield bats didn't miss many pitches tonight as they had 16 hits, and 12 runs. Dan Jansen and Jesus Gonzalez each had a HR helping the offensive attack.
