Jays affiliates were 2-2 today, with New Hampshire and Buffalo unable to score any runs. Dunedin and Lansing managed to win, with each of them scoring a bunch of runs in the process.
Buffalo 0 – Gwinnett 5
Shawn Hill was given the start for Buffalo, after recently being promoted from New Hampshire. Shawn was plagued by the long ball today, giving up 5 earned runs over 6 innings while allowing 2 home runs. Ryan Rowland-Smith and John Stilson each pitched a scoreless inning following Shawn.
The Bison’s offense didn’t manage to score a run today, but Ryan Goins and Ryan Schimpf each had 2 hits.
Binghamton 6 – New Hampshire 0
The Fisher Cats only managed to have 2 hits including one from Andy Burns, and the other from Yusuf Carter.
Casey Lawrence gave up 4 earned runs over 6.2 innings, on 7 hits, with 2 walks, and 4 strikeouts. Casey Janssen pitched in his second relief appearance for New Hampshire with a scoreless 9th inning.
Clearwater 3 – Dunedin 6
Dunedin won again, improving their record to 24-8, thanks to strong pitching and hitting. Taylor Cole started and gave up 3 runs (2 earned) over 5.1 innings. Efrain Nieves, and Arik Sikula finished out the game, with Arik getting his 10th save of the season.
Matt Newman was 2-4, with 2 doubles, and 3 RBI, and DH KC Hobson knocked in 2 runs.
Lansing 12 – Fort Wayne 5
The Lugnuts offense was on fire today scoring 12 runs on 14 hits. The outburst included the #2-4 hitters (Derick Loveless, Mitch Nay, LB Dantzler, and Matt Dean) scoring 10 runs. But unfortunately, the bad included DJ Davis striking out 3 more times bringing his season BB/K ratio to 6/49, which includes a 40% K ratio.
After destroying short-season ball last year in Bluefield, and Vancouver, Matt Dermody was given his second start for Lansing after starting the season in extended Spring Training. Matt gave up 2 earned runs over 5.2 innings on 7 hits, while walking 3, and striking out 3.
