The farm was highlighted with strong performances from Marcus Stroman, KC Hobson, and Dalton Pompey. The farm teams went 6-2 tonight, with extra inning games for New Hampshire and the GCL Jays.
Buffalo 3 – Columbus 2
Thad Weber had another excellent start for the Bisons, as he pitched 7 innings giving up 4 hits, one earned run, with no walks, and 4 strikeouts. Sergio Santos pitched the 8th inning, and back to-back games giving up a run. Neil Wagner closed out the game for his 14th save, striking out 3 in the 9th inning.
Buffalo scored 2 runs in the 5th inning, and one in the 6th inning off former Boston pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka. Kevin Pillar and Moises Sierra were each 2-4.
Harrisburg 3 – New Hampshire 2 (10 Innings)
Marcus Stroman had an excellent start today versus Harrisburg. Marcus threw 6.2 innings, with a line that consisted of 5 hits, 2 runs (1 earned), with 2 walks, and 11 strikeouts. Scott Gracey gave up a run in the 10th inning,and was eventually credited with the loss.
Kevin Nolan had a triple in the 2nd inning, and scored later on a single by Gabe Jacobo. In the 9th inning the Fisher-Cats tied up the game, thanks to Ryan Schimpf’s double which scored Gabe Jacobo.
Dunedin 8 – Charlotte 5
KC Hobson continued to be on fire over the last week, as he hit a HR in his 3rd consecutive game. Today KC was 3-3, with a home run, 6 RBI, and a walk. Toronto’s own Markus Knecht, was 2-5, with a double, and a triple helping the attack.
Austin Bibens-Dirkx continued to throw well for Dunedin, as his line today was 6.1 innings pitched, 7 hits, 5 runs(3 earned), with no walks and 5 strikeouts. Wil Browning pitched a clean 7th and 8th innings, while Ajax Meyer closed out the 9th for his fifth save.
Lansing 7 – Dayton 1
The Lugnuts Offense was rolling today, with a balanced attack across the board. Dalton Pompey had a strong game going 2-4, with a home run, 4 RBI, and a run scored. Kevin Patterson was 2-3, with a double and a triple. Jordan Leyland was 0-4 in his debut for Lansing at 1B, as he has spent the first part of his season with Vancouver.
Ben White threw 7 innings of 5 hit ball, giving up one earned run. Griffin Murphy closed out the game pitching the 8th and 9th innings, giving up a hit with two strikeouts.
Vancouver 2 – Spokane 0
Vancouver’s pitching was rolling today thanks to Colton Turner, Justin James and Matt Johnson who combined to pitch 9 scoreless innings giving up 5 hits.
Vancouver scored two runs in the 6th inning thanks to an Andy Fermin sac fly, and a single by Michael Reeves.
Bluefield 11 – Danville 3
Bluefield’s offense was rolling today with 12 hits, and 8 walks which totaled 11 runs by the end of the game. Mitch Nay lead the attack, as he was 3-4 with 2 RBI and a walk.
Mark Biggs, Brady Dragmire were the starting duo today who combined for 7 innings, 4 hits allowed, and two earned runs.
GCL Blue Jays 10 – GCL Phillies 9(10 Innings)
The GCL Blue Jays won an offensive showdown tonight 10-9 thanks to Thomas Collins III single in the bottom of the 10th inning. Rowdy Tellez was 0-4, with a walk and a strikeout in his third professional baseball game since signing at the draft deadline earlier this month. Kenny Wilson continued to rehab with the GCL Jays, going 2-4, hoping to move up north to New Hampshire in the near future.
DSL Blue Jays 2 – DSL Tigers 9
Michael De La Cruz continued to be the best hitter for the DSL Jays, as he was 2-3 last night with a triple, and a walk in a night where the Jays didn’t manage much offensively.
The DSL Blue Jays had Francis Eduardo, Juliandry Higuera, Osman Gutierrez, and Jonathan Torres pitch today combining to give up 9 runs, of which only 6 were earned.
