Buffalo won thanks to Mauro Gomez who hit two home runs. Jose Reyes had two hits. Chad Jenkins was OK'ish.
Sean Nolin pitched seven strong to lead New Hampshire to the win.
Kyle Drabek started for Dunedin and took the loss.
Roberto Osuna had a bad start and Lansing lost big.
Vancouver rallied from a five run deficit in the sixth to win.
Bluefield had excellent pitching from Tom Robson and Jairo Labourt and DJ Davis drove in three runs as the Jays won.
The GCL Jays started their season with a double header sweep of the Phillies. 17 different hitters got to start a game.
Durham 3 Buffalo 6
The Bisons had just five hits but two of them were home runs from Mauro Gomez, a two run shot in the sixth and a three run shot in the eighth. Jose Reyes had two hits and Kevin Pillar had the other RBI, he singled to drive in Reyes who had stolen second to get into scoring position. Anthony Gose was back in the lineup but he went 0-3.
Chad Jenkins hung in there for seven innings. He gave up nine hits, only one of the three runs was earned, but he had just one strikeout. John Stilson and Joel Carreno had a scoreless inning each.
New Hampshire 4 Harrisburg 1
Sean Nolin was excellent, he went seven innings, gave up four hits including a solo home run to the games second hitter, didn't walk anyone and K'd seven. Randy Boone pitched the last two innings.
The Fisher Cats trailed 3-1 until the eighth. Brian Van Kirk singled, Adam Loewen walked, Brad Glenn doubled in a run, AJ Jimenez singled in another and Clint Robinson finished it off with another RBI single. In the ninth Andy Burns took a bases loaded walk to score the fourth run. Burns was 0-4 with the walk. Jimenez, Van Kirk and Ryan Schimpf had two hits each.
Dunedin 1 Daytona 2
Kyle Drabek started, pitched 2.1 innings and was charged with both runs. Super prospect Javier Baez drove in both runs, one a home run. Drabek gave up five hits, four of which were line drives. Jesse Hernandez followed Drabek and pitched 3.2 perfect innings.
Dunedin had seven hits, Nick Baligod had two.
Lansing 1 Bowling Green 9
It was a worrying start for Roberto Osuna. He pitched into the fourth inning and walked four. Prior to this start Osuna had never walked more than one in a start this season and had given up five walks in 33 innings. He also gave up three hits and was charged with six runs. The last two scored when reliever Kramer Champlin gave up a home run to the first hitter he saw.
Santiago Nessy returned off the DL and singled in the only run. The Lugnuts had only five hits, Dalton Pompey had two of them.
Vancouver 8 Salem-Keizer 6
Vancouver were outhit 13-9 to the relevant number is the errors, Salem made 7 to zero from Vancouver. It was a tale of two games on the mound. Bobby Brosnahan started and gave up all six runs in 3 plus innings. He was followed by four relievers who did not let SK get another run.
Two errors led to the first Vancouver run in the second inning. An error followed by a double from Justin Atkinson led to the second run, and Vancouver trailed 6-2 after six. The Canadians added three runs in the seventh, a double from Dickie Thon was the key hit. Trailing by one in the eighth a couple of walks set the stage for Brenden Kalfus who doubled in the tying and go-ahead runs. Kalfus scored on a single by Dan Klein. Atkinson, Thon and Ian Parmley had two hits each.
Greeneville 0 Bluefield 5
Just like game 1 pitching was the key to the win. Tom Robson and Jairo Labourt each pitched four innings with one hit allowed. Robson had one K, Labourt 3.
The Jays first run came on a triple by DJ Davis. Eric Arce reached on an error and scored run number two on a sac fly. In the sixth inning Bluefield scored three more runs, Davis drove in 2 of the runs. Davis finished 2-5 with 3 RBI. Matt Dean had two hits, Mitch Nay had a double and reached on a walk.
GCL Phillies 5 GCL Blue Jays 6 - game 1, 13 innings.
In their first game of the season the baby Jays trailed 5-0 after three innings. They clawed their way back to tie the game in the bottom of the seventh, the last scheduled inning in a doubleheader. The game then kept going until the 13th when the Phillies must have run out of pitchers. Their pitcher walked ofur and the Jays won without a hit in that inning.
The Jays had 11 hits. Franklin Barreto was 2-5 with a double and a walk. Daniel Arcila and Andres Sotillo had two hits each. Anthony Alford was 1-5.
The Jays used six pitchers. Jimmy Cordero started and was roughed up a bit. Alejandro Solarte pitched three almost perfect innings, his error was the only blemish on his record. Phillip Kish had 5 K's in his 3 innings.
GCL Blue Jays 3 GCL Phillies 1 - game 2
The Jays had only common starter between the first game and this one, everybody got to play. The Jays had five hits, Gabriel Cenas and Christian Vazquez (19th round) had doubles.
Francisco Diaz, who had made two starts in the DSL, started and pitched four innings. Corey Gorman and Garrett Pickens made their professional debuts and held the Phillies off the board. It was a nice 2-0 start for the GCL Jays.
