Quiet Sunday on the Farm

This afternoon the farm went 1-3, with the only win coming from Buffalo.  Dustin McGowan continued to struggle, and further-delay his arrival to Toronto.  As well, Dunedin faced a former starting pitcher with mlb success, trying to make it back to the majors.

Buffalo 7 – Norfolk 4

Buffalo managed to hit Norfolk starter Jair Jurrjens well, knocking him out of the game after 2.2 innings.  Eugenio Velez had 3 hits, Jim Negrych Josh Thole, and Adam LaRoche had 2 hits as well.  Luiz Jimenez hit his 12 home run of the year, and Adam LaRoche had his 7th of the year.

Justin Germano put together 6 solid innings for Buffalo giving up 2 earned runs over 6 innings with 2 walks, and 8 strikeouts.  Dustin McGowan had another rough outing for Buffalo giving up 2 earned runs over an inning raising his ERA to 9.

 

New Hampshire 2 – Binghamton 7

Sean Nolin was on the mound for New Hampshire today and went 5 innings giving up 5 earned runs including 9 hits with 1 walk and 6 strikeouts. 

Clint Robinson went 2-4 with a homerun highliting what was a slow day for Fisher Cats hitters who only managed to put up 2 runs.

 

Dunedin  0 – Clearwater 7

Dunedin faced a former big leaguer in Carlos Zambrano, who is trying to return to the majors with the Phillies.  Dunedin was anything going versus Zambrano who went 6 innings of 4 hit ball with 2 walks and 3 strikeouts.  Gabe Jacobo, and Nick Baligod each had a double which highlighted an off-day for Dunedin batters who only managed to put together 5 hits all game long.

Austins Bibens-Dirkx had a solid start going 5 innings of 5.1 innings of 3 hit ball, giving up 3 earned runs with 2 walks, and 4 strikeouts.  Alan Farina pitched his first game of the year after returning from his 50-game suspension, and put up a scoreless inning.

 

Lansing 7 – Great Lakes 5

Lansing put up 7 runs this afternoon, with 12 hits, and 2 walks.  Gustavo Pierre continued to hit well with 2 hits including a double, and a run.  Emilio Guerrero had 2 hits as well and a walk, raising his slash line to 292/382/326.

 

Ben White had a solid start, going 5 1/3 innings giving up 5 hits, 3 walks, 3 unearned runs with 3 strikeouts.  Efran Nieves, and Arik Sikula closed out the game for Lansing going the remaining 3 2/3 innings.
