More Hitting in the Heat

Three farmhands had four hits each. Kevin Pillar had four as part of a 15 hit attack, Brad Glenn had five RBI's and New Hampshire won. That was the only win for the affiliates. Justin Jackson made his pitching debut and did well, one run allowed in 2.2 innings. He followed Alonzo Gonzalez who was hit hard and who put Lansing in a hole. Christian Lopes and Chris Hawkins had four hits each in a losing cause. Buffalo had a chance to win but the bullpen and the defense blew it. Jim Negrych had three more hits. Dunedin lost a close one.

Louisville 6  Buffalo 5

Bottom seven, game tied at 4 and Buffalo score a run to go ahead. Negrych singled, Gose doubled, and Gomez hit a sac fly. But in the top of the eighth Clint Everts was victimized by a LaRoche error and an infield single. The call went out for Jeremy Jeffress just up from Dunedin. A walk and a 2 run single put the Bisons down by a run.

Ryan Langenhans had the only home run of the day for the Bisons. LaRoche had two hits and Negrych three. Miguel Batista started and was charged with four runs in six innings.

 

Reading 5  New Hampshire 15

The Fisher Cats led 9-0 after 3 innings. They were facing Jesse Biddle who had dominated them a week ago. But Biddle was wild and didn't get out of the first inning, he walked 4 hitters. The only home run came from local product Kevin Nolan, a three run shot in the seventh. Kevin Pillar was 4-5 with a walk. Brian Van Kirk had three hits and a walk. Brad Glenn had two hits and 5 RBI's.

Austin Bibens-Dirkx went five innings for the win. Matt Wright and Evan Crawford pitched two innings each.

 

Brevard County 5  Dunedin 4

Brevard County led 5-1 in the seventh before Dunedin staged a comeback. Dunedin scored two in the seventh and one more in the eighth but left the bases loaded. Casey Lawrence had his second tough start since he was player of the week. Lawrence pitched 6.2 innings and was touched for five runs.

The Jays had seven hits, Marcus Knecht was the only Jay with two.

 

Beloit 11  Lansing 6

Justin Jackson made his professional pitching debut. Alonzo Gonzalez was bombed, he gave up ten runs in 3.1 innings. Seven runs were earned. Jackson pitched 2.2 innings and gave up a run on two hits.

Lansing outhit Beloit 15-10, the problem was that Gonzalez gave up three two run home runs. Christian Lopes and Chris Hawkins both were 4-5. Shane Opitz had three hits.
