A rainout was the best news of the day on the farm.

Rochester 4 Buffalo 3

Rochester, NYMiguel Batista was in line for the win after getting one out in the sixth inning. He was charged with three runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out four. His groundout/flyout ratio was 5-4. Brad Lincoln could only strand one of the two Batista runners left behind and was charged with the blown save against the Twins affiliate. He gave up three hits and struck out a batter in 1 2/3 scoreless frames. Lefty Juan Perez (0-1) gave up the winning run on two hits in his one inning of work with one strikeout.

The Bisons did all their scoring in the sixth inning to take a 3-1 lead thanks to a Luis Jimenez two-run triple and an Andy LaRoche RBI single to score Jimenez, who doubled to lead off the ninth. Lance Zawadzki pinch-ran for him but only made it as far as third.  LaRoche and Moises Sierra joined Jimenez in the two-hit club. Mike McCoy had the other base hit. Eugenio Velez walked once in his three trips to the dish. Anthony Gose, Jim Negrych and Ryan Langerhans were 0-for-4 each with Gose and Langerhans whiffing twice each. Mike Nickeas was 0-for-3.

New Hampshire @ Trenton

Trenton, NJ
— Postponed due to rain. The game will be made up this evening as part of a doubleheader.

Jupiter 6 Dunedin 1

Jupiter, FL — A few familiar faces played for the Marlins affiliate in this one. Adeiny Hechavarria doubled in four trips to the plate for the Hammerheads and Jake Marisnick was also 1-for-4. Anthony DeSclafani earned the win despite a WHIP of two (nine hits and a walk) over five innings. Derrick Chung gave Dunedin the brief 1-0 lead with an RBI single off DeSclafani in the second inning. That was one of his two hits on the evening for Chung but the Dunedin hit leader was Andy Burns, who had a double among his three hits. Marcus Knecht also collected a pair of singles. Jon Berti singled, walked and stole a base but was also caught once. Matt Newman and Nick Baligod singled once apiece. Peter Mooney, K.C. Hobson and Kevin Patterson came up bagels in their combined 12 plate appearances.

Casey Lawrence (2-1) endured his worst outing of the year by only getting through three innings. He was whacked around for 10 hits and a walk, resulting in six runs. He walked one and struck out one. His outing ended when Newman threw out a runner at second from right field. The bullpen did a great job picking up Lawrence. Ajay Meyer pitched three perfect frames, striking out five. Lefty Tyler Ybarra allowed just two hits over two shutout innings and struck out three.

Cedar Rapids 9 Lansing 1

Cedar Rapids, IA — This was just a one-run game before the Twins affiliate roughed up Taylor Cole (1-2) in the fifth inning. Byron Buxton — the number two pick of the 2012 draft — worked a one-out walk before the Kernels popped off for a natural cycle with two outs, resulting in five runs. Cole was burned for seven runs on six hits, two walks and a hit by pitch over five frames. On the plus side, he did strike out seven batters and recorded five groundball outs. One of Cole's runs was unearned because of a Gustavo Pierre error at third. He had two clanks during the contest and catcher Seth Conner was charged with a throwing error and a passed ball. Lefty Griffin Murphy yielded two runs on two hits and a walk over two innings but struck out a pair. Chuck Ghysels walked one but struck out one in a scoreless inning.

The lone Lansing run came in the fourth inning when Christian Lopes doubled home a Dalton Pompey triple. Conner, Chris Hawkins and Carlos Ramirez had the other base raps with Conner also drawing a walk. Pierre and Jorge Flores were both 0-for-4 while Kellen Sweeney and Dwight Smith Jr. were each 0-for-3.
