Vancouver came out on the winning end of an impressive pitching performance by both teams and scored four runs in the 11th inning to win 4-0. Taylor Cole started that game and lowered his ERA to 0.26 in seven starts.

Bill Murphy had a nice start by allowing just two runs in 6.0 innings. He allowed a lot of base runners, though, with seven hits and three walks. He struck out five batters. Jim Hoey took the loss with two runs allowed in the seventh inning. Clint Everts finished off the game by walking two and striking out the side. Texas sent former Jays hurler Zach Jackson, who I didn't realize was still pitching, to the mound against the 51s. Recent minor league free agent pick-up Luke Hughes had two hits, including a double. Mike McDade went 1-for-5 with a double and two Ks. Mark Sobolewski went 1-for-3 with a strikeout and a walk. He scored a run.
New Hampshire 6 Akron 5 (7 innings - Game 1)
Ryan Tepera gave up five runs (four earned) in 5.2 innings. He allowed eight hits and one walk. He struck out two batters. Sam Dyson nailed down the final 1.1 innings with one hit and a walk allowed. He did not strike out a batter. Ryan Schimpf went 2-for-2 with a homer. Brad Glenn went deep and drove in three runs. Ryan Goins went 1-for-2 with a walk. Kevin Howard was 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Marcus Walden allowed two hits in 6.2 innings of work. The ground-ball specialist gave up seven hits (but no walks) in 6.2 innings of work. He struck out five batters and induced eight ground-ball outs. Dayton Marze and Danny Barnes finished off the game with a combined 2.1 scoreless innings. Marcus Knecht led the offense with two hits, including a double. Pierce Rankin also had a double and drove in two runs. Justin Jackson was 1-for-3 with 2 Ks. Kevin Pillar had one hit with a stolen base and a run scored.
West Michigan 7 Lansing 1
Noah Syndergaard pitched well. He gave up two runs, but both were unearned, in 5.0 innings of work. He allowed four hits, one walk and struck out three. He also induced 10 ground-ball outs. Philip Brua and Brandon Berl were hit around for five runs over 4.0 combined innings. Nick Baligod had two hits and a walk but also struck out twice. Andy Fermin, Shane Opitz and Chris Peters also had hits. K.C. Hobson went hitless and also made two errors in the field, continuing to show iffy defense at first base.

It was an impressive pitching duel between the two clubs with no runs being scored until the 11th inning. Taylor Cole lowered his ERA to 0.26 in seven starts with another five shutout innings. He struck out four, while also allowing two hits and a walk (Cole was allowed just one run this season - and no unearned runs). Colton Turner turned in the best performance out of the bullpen with no hits or runs allowed in 2.1 innings. Matt Newman went 2-for-3 at the plate and also walked twice. Balbino Fuenmayor had three hits, including a homer, and drive in two runs. Kellen Sweeney had two extra base hits and drove in two runs.
