Today's POTD looks at some of the players from Seattle who could play key roles in this series against the Blue Jays at Safeco Field.

Hisashi Iwakuma, pitching in relief against Oakland at Safeco Field July 27, gets the start tonight against Toronto.  He fanned three in 3.2 innings against Oakland but took the loss by giving up a home run to Yoenis Cespedes.

Kyle Seager loses control of his bat after a Jarrod Parker pitch.  He had a hit and a walk in this game.  His 11 home runs is second on the Mariners, two behind the recently-demoted Justin Smoak, and his 62 RBI leads the club.

Brendan Ryan is known more for his stellar defence at short but he got on base twice on this day with a walk and a hit by pitch.  He is hitting .196 overall but is hitting .258 in his last 10 games.

Lefty Lucas Luetge has put up a lot of zeros with Seattle this season.  The Rule 5 pick from Milwaukee yielded just one unearned run in his first 25 appearances.  He pitched a clean inning with one punchout here and has a 1.88 earned run average so far in 2012.

Former Jay Brandon League has been the subject of trade rumours lately.  He lost the closer's role to Tom Wilhelmsen early in the season.  League, who pitched 1.2 innings of scoreless ball, is 0-5 with nine saves and a 3.63 ERA.

Victoria, BC's Michael Saunders will set a career high for home runs the next time he puts the ball over the fence.  He has 10 dingers and 34 runs batted in this year and three of his 32 career homers have come against the Jays.  He was 0-for-4 on the afternoon.

Jesus Montero, acquired from the New York Yankees in the Michael Pineda deal, fouls one off and went 0-for-4 on this day.  He has 10 homers and 40 RBI.

Utilityman Munenori Kawasaki, pinch-running for Justin Smoak in this game, has pinch-ran 15 times for the Mariners this season.

Blake Beavan, pitching for Triple-A Tacoma against Las Vegas June 27, will pitch Wednesday against the Blue Jays.

Outfielder Carlos Peguero, batting for Tacoma, is back in the big leagues with Las Vegas catcher Yan Gomes.  Peguero is batting .158 for the Mariners.
