Hill's First Day in Vegas

New Hampshire was the lone winner on the farm last night as the affiliates lost by 1 run, 2 runs, were shutout, were postponed and had an off day.

Las Vegas 5 @ Tucson 7Boxscore

Recent addition Shawn Hill made his first start for the 51s and was rudely welcomed to the thin air of the PCL. Hill only threw 66 pitches in 5 innings despite allowing five runs on eight hits. Tucson took the lead by scoring twice off Clint Everts before Jim Hoey and Jerry Gil threw scoreless frames of relief.

Adeiny Hechavarria led the attack with a 3-for-5 evening. Anthony Gose was 0-for-3 with two walks. Travis Snider and Eric Thames were each 2-for-4 and Snider also had a walk. Travis d’Arnaud, Adam Lind and Moises Sierra each went 1-for-4. Jonathan Diaz was 1-for-3 with a walk.

Fernanado Hernandez started and gave up three runs over 5 innings. Scott Gracey and Sam Dyson each twirled 2 innings of scoreless relief.

The Fisher Cats scored all four runs off Phillies starting pitching prospect Trevor May. John Tolisano led off the game with a solo homer and didn’t stop hitting all night, finishing 3-for-4 with a walk. Ryan Goins and Gabe Jacobo each added doubles, with the latter driving in half of New Hampshire’s runs. Ben Francisco was 1-for-4 as he continued his rehab stint. Mark Sobolewski was 0-for-2 with a pair of walks.

Dunedin 2 @ Clearwater 3Boxscore

Clearwater scored an unearned run in the bottom of the ninth for the walk-off victory. The D-Jays scored twice off another Phillies starting pitching prospect, Jesse Biddle, on a two-run homer by Ryan Schimpf. Jake Marisnick was 2-for-3 with a walk.

Clearwater scored twice off Casey Lawrence over 5.2 innings and then got the winning run in on a throwing error by catcher Jack Murphy on a single to right field. Shawn Griffith did 2.1 innings of relief without allowing an earned run, but took the loss.

Tri-City 5 @ Vancouver 3Boxscore

Vancouver scored 3 in the bottom of the 9th, but it wasn’t enough for a comeback win against Tri-City. Eric Brown threw 4 innings and allowed two runs, one unearned on a Dalton Pompey error. Tri-City scored runs off Tucker Donahue and Jonathan Lucas in relief, before Andrew Sikula pitched 1.1 innings of relief.

The Canadians had 6 hits; two each by Pompey and Tuckey Frawley. Both Pompey and Frawley also walked. Jordan Leyland and Daniel Arcila both added singles and Ian Parmley was 0-for-2 with three walks.

Bluefield @ Bristol – Postponed

Game postponed due to flooded irrigation system (thanks to Gerry for the correction).

GCL Yankees 5 @ GCL Blue Jays 0Boxscore

The GCL Blue Jays were limited to three hits and the first three batters in the lineup each had one each. DJ Davis, Anthony Alford and Jesus Gonzalez each had a single and Alford drew the team’s only walk and was on base twice. Among the names held hitless were Seth Connor, Wuilmer Becerra and Dawel Lugo.

Yeyfry Del Rosario gave up four runs over 3 innings and Kyle Anderson surrendered the last run over his 3 innings. Chuck Ghyseis gave up a hit over his two innings of scoreless relief.
