Only Dunedin (12-2), who lead their North division in the Florida State League were on the win side of things Friday night, continuing what has become a 5 game win streak.  The other leader in the Jays farm system is Lansing who lost Friday, but remain on top of the Eastern division of the Midwest League with a 12-3 record.  New Hampshire went down Friday morning, sinking to a 6-9 record and now sit third in the Eastern division of the Eastern League.  Las Vegas lost, settling into third place of the PCL Pacific South division with a record of 4-12.

Notably, the long ball lumber was largely silent Friday, with Jonathan Diaz of New Hampshire hitting the only round tripper on the farm, a 2 run blast.  He was due. His last homer was in August of last year.

Las Vegas 2  Salt Lake 10

Bowing to Salt Lake, the 51s could only squeeze a couple of runs out of 12 hits.  Starter Tim Redding (0-2) took the loss with 3 IP, allowing 4 runs on 7 hits with a couple of Ks.  Relievers Andrew Carpenter, Jerry Gill, Bill Murphy and Bobby Korecky wouldn’t put out the fire either, collectively allowing 6 more runs on another 8 hits.  Yan Gomes (1-5, 2B, RBI, K) committed his second defensive miscue of the season, a throwing error in the first.

Las Vegas plated their only 2 runs in the 7th inning after two walks to Anthony Gose (0-4, R, BB, 2Ks) and Adeiny Hechavarria (4-4, R, BB).  They moved on to 2nd and 3rd on a Travis Snider (2-4, 2B, BB) ground out.  Gose scored on a David Cooper (1-5, 2B, RBI) ground out and Hechavarria came across on a Gomes double.   Travis d’Arnaud (2-4, BB) had the other multi-hit outing.  Moises Sierra (1-5,K) and Chris Woodward (1-5, 2Ks) each singled while Mike McCoy (0-2, 2BB, K) went hitless with a pair of walks.

New Hampshire 3  New Britain 7

Nearly 7,300 home field faithful saw New Britian best the Fisher Cats with a 4 run outburst in the 8th inning.  Starter Yohan Pino went 6.0 IP, allowing 3 runs on 3 hits, including an HR.  Casey Lawrence (0-1) just up from Dunedin took the lost allowing a 4 run outburst in the 8th with 5 hits, including a 3 run HR.

New Hampshire’s offence was limited to the 3rd and 4th innings.  In the 3rd, the Fisher Cats got on the board with a Jonathan Diaz (1-4, R, HR, 2 RBIs, K) 2 run homer plating John Tollisano (0-3, 2BB, K).  They added another run in the 4th after Kevin Howard (1-4, R, 2Ks) walked and stole 2nd and 3rd and went home on a throwing error.  Brad Glenn (2-3, BB) had the Fisher Cats’ only multi-hit performance.  Justin Jackson (1-3, BB) added a single.

Dunedin 11  Brevard County 4

The D-Jays dominated Brevard, despite being out hit 13-9.  In their fifth win in a row, Dunedin’s four pitchers spread out the 13 hits, allowing only 4 runs.  Shawn Griffen (3-0) took his 3rd win, allowing no hits or run and striking out 3 in 2.1 IP.  Jake Marisnick (0-4, R, BB, 2Ks) suffered a fielding error, his first of the year.

Friday night, Dunedin’s RBI Row was led by Ryan Schimpf (1-5, R, 3B, 3RBIs), Michael Crouse (1 for 3, 2B, 3RBIs, BB) and Jack Murphy (2-3, R, 3RBIs, BB).   Together, they accounted for 9 of Dunedin’s 11 Runs.  The other runs came from Jon Talley (1-3, 2R, RBI, 2BB, K) and Kevin Ahrens (1-2, R, RBI, 2BB).  The fifth inning saw Dunedin pushing in 4 runs and the 8th they put back Brevard for good with 5 runs scored.

The Luggies didn’t muster any scoring.  They didn’t have much to work with, 4 hits spread out.  Jonathan Berti (2-4,K), Kevin Patterson (1-4, 2Ks) and Chris Hawkins (1-3) were the only Luggies’ hitters.
