Dunedin's & Bluefield's New Look & Roadblocks For Ottawa

The Dunedin Blue Jays followed suit with the parent club and unveiled its new look for 2012 on Frday.

The new logos for the Dunedin Blue Jays of the Florida State League.

Update @ 11:10am - The Bluefield Blue Jays have done likewise.

The primary logo for the Bluefield Blue Jays of the Appalachian League.  The National Post's John Lott has a photo of Dunedin's and Bluefield's new designs.

Henderson Alvarez is featured on the Dunedin Blue Jays website.  The Venezuelan righty spent 2010 in Dunedin but spent the majority of 2011 with Double-A New Hampshire before getting called up by Toronto late in the season.

• Kevin Gray of the New Hampshire Union Leader shoots down recent speculation from this story in The Ottawa Citizen about Ottawa's prospects of landing an Eastern League franchise in 2013.  Speculation is the franchise will move to the nation's capital from Binghamton, the current Double-A home of the New York Mets.  Blue Jays director of minor league operations Charlie Wilson:

“Our organization has a policy about not commenting on rumors, whether it's about a player, potential trade or affiliation. Now if you want to talk about our relationship with New Hampshire, it's amazing.”

Gray also points out another factor in play in his blog:

"For one, the Fisher Cats may never pursue a PDC (ed note-player development contract) with a New York team, an agreement that is part of a territorial waiver signed by Red Sox team president Larry Lucchino. That contract clause is based on major-league TV markets and precludes the Fisher Cats from entering a PDC with the Mets or Yankees."

• Congratulations to catcher Travis d'Arnaud of your Eastern League champion New Hampshire Fisher Cats.  He was named to the Double-A All-Star Team by Topps and Minor League Baseball.
• Also, congratulations to Dunedin Blue Jays pitching coach Darold Knowles.  The one-time Expo was recently inducted into the Florida State League's Hall of Fame.
• MLive.com says one official from the Lansing Lugnuts was happy to see Jays general manager Alex Anthopoulos at Cooley Law School Stadium in 2011.
• Larry Hook from MLive.com also has a feature on Lugnuts catcher Carlos Perez and caught up with outfielder Jake Marisnick.
• Last but not least, all the best goes out to Vancouver Canadians infielder Bryan Kervin, who is battling ulcerative colitis.
