A playoff series will go to the wire while a Lansing starter dazzled.

Las Vegas 1    Sacramento 7

Not much worth repeating in this one. David Cooper picked up his 50th double of the year as part of a two-hit night. Adeiny Hechavarria was 1-for-4 with a double but struck out three times.

Chad Beck started and got rocked. Walked seven and allowed six runs (five earned) in four and two thirds.

Remeber Graham Godfrey? Well, he's starting for Sacramento and picked up the win to move to 14-3 with an ERA of 2.68. I don't think he's much of a prospect but those are gaudy numbers for a PCL starter.

New Hampshire 2    Trenton 0

Given the shutout you'd figure Hutch or Molina was pitching. They weren't. It was our man Dustin McGowan who went 3.2 and allowed four hits and three walks but punched out seven. From there a trio of relievers tidied up the whitewash.

Moises Sierra was 3-for-4 with a triple and stole home. So that's a nice night. Travis D'Arnaud and Anthony Gose each had a hit. One of them stole a base. It was D'Arnaud. I swear.

Clearwater @ Dunedin- PPD

Great Lakes 1    Lansing 8

Jake Marisnick didn't play but no matter. Matt Nuzzo was 3-for-3 while Marcus Knecht went 0-for-2 but scored twice and knocked in a run. Carlos Perez doubled.

The story in this one was Sean Nolin. The tall lefty dominated going six and allowing a run on three hits and a walk against 10 strikeouts.

Vancouver 2    Boise 4

Nothing happened here. Seriously. Jesse Hernandez started and wasn't good. None of the hitters did anything noteworthy. Jonathon Berti tripled. There. Let's move on.

Elizabethton 5    Bluefield 2

Bluefield couldn't close out their playoff series on Thursday thanks in part to some wildness from Myles Jaye. Jaye was working on three days rest and it showed as he allowed four runs on seven hits and four walks in 3.1 innings. 2011 draftees Joe Musgrove and Jeremy Gabryszwski finished things off nicely. Musgrove allowed a run on four hits with three punchouts in his 3.2 innings while Gabryszwski went two and struck out three against just two hits.

Three Stars:

3rd Star: Dustin McGowan- 3.2 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 7 K

2nd Star: Moises Sierra- 3-for-4, 3B, SB (home)

1st Star: Sean Nolin- 6 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 10 K
