Farm Club Goes Split – 4 Ws 4 Ls – Hechavarria Makes AAA Debut

In his first AB for Las Vegas, A-Hech doubles and adds a single later to go 2 for 4.  He had a throwing miscue as well for his first error in AAA.  A-Rod makes rehab appearance at Dunedin and goes long on a solo blast in the first inning.

Las Vegas 3  Nashville 13

 

Las Vegas went country Friday, but lost to Nashville as loosing pitcher and starter Chad Beck (1-2) gave up no less than 4 HRs in 5.1 innings.  Adeiny Hechavarria doubled in his first AAA appearance and added a single later.  He was almost flawless in the field, save for a throwing error in the 8th inning.

 

David Cooper  led the 51s with 2 RBIs, going 1 for 3 and Travis Snider went 2 for 4 with an RBI. 

 

New Hampshire 7  Akron 1

 

7,076 hometown Fisher Cats fans saw starter and winning pitcher Nestor Molina put on a pitching exposition with 6 IP, allowing 4 hits and 1 run while striking out 8.  Fist baseman Yan Gomes committed his 6th error of the year with a bad throw to second on the first leg of an attempted double play.

 

Man Mountain Mike McDade recently coming off the DL went 3 for 4 as DH and mashed a solo blast in the fifth inning.  Travis d’Arnaud , just ahead of big Mike, belted a solo dinger, in a back to back show for New Hampshire.  Kevin Howard went 1 for 2 and batted in a pair of RBIs.  Mark Sobolewski went 1 for 4 with an RBI as well.

 

Dunedin 6  Tampa 4

 

A-Rod on rehab assignment was the draw of the evening at Florida Auto Exchange Stadium in Dunedin, bringing in 788, twice the usual summer’s evening gate for the D-Jays.  He went 2 for 3 with a double and a fist inning round tripper off starter Willie Calazo who lasted 3.0 IP and racked up 4 Ks.  Winning pitcher Matt Wright (4-2) went just 2.2 IP, also striking out 4.  John Talley had a fielding error, his 6th.

 

A.J. Jimenez went 2 for 4 with a pair of RBIs.  Sean Ochinko went 2 for 4 and was joined by Brad Glenn, also 2 for 4, but with just one RBI.  Ryan Schimpf, John Talley and Ryan Goins added and RBI each.

 

Lansing 6  South Bend 2

 

Starting pitcher Egan Smith (6-5) delivered some real heat in 5.0 IP, allowing 5 hits, a pair of runs, a BB and struck out 4.  Oliver Dominguez booted one at 2nd, his 21st error of the season for Lansing.

 

On offence,  Dominguez redeemed himself at the plate with 3 RBIs, a pair of doubles, a single, a K and a walk.  Jake Marisnick and Garis Pena each put up solo homers on the evening.  K.C. Hobson had a double and a RBI. 

 

Vancouver 4  Yakima 5

 

Vancouver dropped a slugfest to Yakima who out hit the Canadians 12 to 9.  Vancouver hung in there until the 7th inning when loosing pitcher Travis Garrett (4-3) gave up three straight hits and a run. 

 

Nicholas Baligod went 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs.  Garrett Maines added anRBI while Jonathan Jones and Chris Schaffer each had two hits.

 

Bluefield 10  Pulaski 2

 

The B-Jays put on a hit show with 11 and put down Pulaski with the help of winning pitcher and starter Ajay Meyer (3-2) who went 6.0 IP, allowing just 5 hits and a run while striking out 7.

 

Three of Bluefield’s finest, Art Charles, Kevin Pillar and Daniel Arcila had 2 RBIs each.  Pillar had a double and a triple and Arcila went long with one on in the second inning for his 8th round tripper of the 2011 campaign.

 

GCL Jays 5  GCL Braves 8

 

Starting pitcher Nicholas Purdy had a good 4.1 IP  with 5 hits, 4 runs and 6 Ks.  Chris Roman (2-1) suffered the loss, with just 1.1 IP, giving up 2 HRs.

 

DH Eric Arce hit his 12th homer in the first inning, batting in 2.  Seth Conner and Santiago Nessy each added and RBI with a single and a double respectively.

 

DSL Jays 0  DSL Angels 3

 

The DSY Jays suffered a shutout by the DSL Angels whose pitchers combined to strike out 7 Jays and spread out 4 hits.  Jays pitching struck out 8, but allowed 6 hits.  Eyers Guerrero (1-2) took the loss.

 

The Jays had no extra base hits nor did they have any batters with multiple hits.
