Five wins in eight tries for the affiliates. Not a ton of notable offensive performances put two of the organization's top pitchers brought their good stuff.
Colorado Springs 1 Las Vegas 2 (10 innings)
Good news abounds in Vegas. Travis Snider made his return from a concussion and went 0-for-3 with an intentional walk. Even better, Kyle Drabek returned to his old self with six solid innings. Drabek surrendered a run on six hits with three strikeouts and no walks.
David Cooper was the first hero, doubling in Brian Jeroloman with two outs in the ninth to tie things at 1-1. Then, with one out in the tenth, Chris Woodward walked things off with his 8th HR of the year.
New Hampshire 6 Portland 10
Anthony Gose finished his miserable month of June on a high note going 1-for-3 with a walk, no strikeouts and his 6th HR of the year. Mark Sobolewski hit his 2nd, a three-run shot, while Ricardo Nanita hit his third. Travis D'Arnaud and Adeiny Hechavarria each took 0-fers while Mike McDade was 2-for-4 with a double.
Robert Ray started and struggled for the Fisher Cats allowing 8 runs in 4.1 innings. Chad Beck allowed two runs in two innings of relief.
Lakeland 5 Dunedin 1
Deck McGuire started and pitched well despite the result going six innings and leaving with the score 1-1. McGuire allowed a run on four hits while striking out six against two walks. Frank Gailey took the loss in relief allowing two runs in his inning.
Not much going on offense but AJ Jimenez and Sean Ochinko each had a pair of hits.
Lansing 1 Great Lakes 3
Not much going on offense here, either. KC Hobson had two hits and walked twice for a perfect night at the plate while Garis Pena homered to provide the only run.
Egan Smith started and took the loss going seven strong and allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits with no walks and two strikeouts.
Everett 1 Vancouver 2
The Canadians keep on rolling with a 2-1 victory to improve to 11-3 on their season. Randy Schwartz homered while Balbino Fuenmayor had three hits to pace the offense.
Blake McFarland picked up the win with six strong innings while Drew Permison nailed down his 6th save, already.
Bluefield 6 Princeton 4
Chris Hawkins homered and singled while Carlos Ramirez, Andy Fermin, and Aaron Munoz all pitched in a pair of hits each. Cody Bartlett doubled and walked twice.
The aptly named Ajay Meyer started and allowed three runs in 5.2 innings while Andrew Sikula won in relief.
GCL Blue Jays 6 GCL Phillies 5
15 hits for the babiest of Jays in outlasting the Phillies. Jorge Vega-Rosado had a 3-for-4 night while Kevin Patterson homered for the fourth time in 8 games as part of his own thee-hit night. Dalton Pompey had a pair of doubles while Eric Arce drove in two with a double of his own.
Tucker Jensen started and went five, striking out five against two runs on five hits.
DSL Blue Jays 7 DSL Braves 2
Lots of multi-hit games in this one but my favourite was from Cesar Barazarte who is sporting a crazy season line of .236/.404/.292. He went 2-for-5 in this one with a double and four RBI. Catcher Kervin Santiago was 2-for-2 with a walk.
Eyerys Guerrero went three shutout innings striking out five against two hits.
