Brett Cecil and Adam Lind had big nights on the farm. Sounds weird, but true.
There's the Brett Cecil we've been waiting for. Cecil improved to 7-1 in AAA with a complete game, allowing a run on three walks and six hits against six strikeouts. He also coaxed 11 grounders versus five outs in the air.
Not much went on at the plate, really. Adam Loewen was 1-for-3 with a double. Chris Woodward had a couple of hits and Travis Snider took an 0-for-4.
Ten runs on only eight hits (and of those, only two went for extra bases) as the Fisher Cats benefited from nine walks and a hit batsman. Anthony Gose was 0-for-3 but walked twice, drove in two, and stole a pair. John Tolisano had a two run double while Mike McDade went 1-for-4 with 3 RBI.
Joel Carreno started this one and was up-and-down. Carreno lasted just five innings and allowed four runs on six hits along with two wild pitches. On the plus side, he walked a pair but struck out nine.
This was a back-and-forth affair as the DJays climbed out of a 5-1 hole before blowing a 9-7 lead. Adam Lind had a nice rehab start going 3-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, two steals (!) and two walks. Justin Jackson was 2-for-5 with a double while Jon Talley had a triple and 4 RBI.
Deck McGuire never really got it going in this one lasting just five innings and allowing five runs on eight hits and four walks. He did strike out six, though.
This one was actually tied 5-5 heading into the 8th before Alex Pepe blew up and allowed five runs. Michael Crouse was 2-for-3 with a walk, while Jake Marisnick took an 0-for-3 but stole his 16th base. Bryson Namba had a nice night going 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.
Misaul Diaz started this one and lasted just 2.1 frames allowing four runs on seven hits and three walks.
