There wasn't overwhelming feedback against my initial suggestion in the other thread, so we'll go with Opera Bob's on Wednesday for the first (of hopefully many!) Batter's Box Beer Clubs of 2011. Let me know if you plan on dropping by!
Opera Bob's is at Dundas and Ossington - not ideally situated on the subway line, but easily accessible on the Dundas streetcar west from St. Patrick station or the Ossington bus south from Ossington station. As mentioned, it's a Jays-friendly bar that will be playing the game, probably with sound, despite the presence of various playoffs. There's also some sort of Jays game-day beer special, and a limited menu of cheap food.
The game's at 8, and I'll be there by 7:30. It's a small bar, but there's a big table in one corner which I believe is reservable, so I'll try to do that and bring along a big sign saying BAUXITES or something.
Match-up: Jo-Jo Reyes vs. Derek Holland. A couple of young lefties with good stuff. Will Reyes pitch to last another turn in the rotation? Come and find out.
