A snow out shorted Las Vegas’ game to 7 innings and New Hampshire was rained out. Lansing made us proud and Dunedin did not.

Las Vegas 1  Colorado Springs 2

Somebody forgot to tell the weatherman that they wanted to play baseball in Colorado Springs yesterday.  Starting out cloudy in the 40’s, the weather beat up the 3,634 fans until a 3” snow storm with temps in the low 30’s chased everybody home in the 7th inning.  Colorado was the victor, game was in and despite 10 hits from the 51s, the score was against them 2 to 1.  Scott Richmond (L, 1-1) took the loss with 4.0 IP allowing both Colorado runs on 6 hits with 2 Ks.   Willie Collazo came on in relief, one-hitting and shutting out Colorado,  while striking out a pair in 2.2 IP.

The 51s got the hits, but they couldn’t put any more than one run on the board, leaving 9 on base, 7 of whom were in scoring position.  Adam Loewen (3 for 3, 2B, RBI) was the productive 51, doubling in David Cooper (2 for 3, R, 2B) who doubled himself to lead off the 2nd.   Bret Lawrie (2 for 4) was the other multi-hitter on the day, and Jonathan Diaz (1 for 4, 2b) added the only other extra base hit.

New Hamshire VS Binghamton (Postponed – Rain)

Dunedin 2  Daytona 6

Daytona hitters slapped D-Jays pitchers well with 12 hits and Dunedin infielders Ivan Contreras (0 for 4, K) and Keven Ahrens (0 for 3, BB, K) each committed an error.  Deck McGuire (L, 1-1) took the loss with 4.0 IP, allowing 5 hits, including a 2 run homer.  He gave up 5 runs, 4 earn and struck out two.  Matt Wright and Dumas Garcia came on in relief and 4 hit Daytona, allowing one more run.  Wright had 4 Ks.

Scott Podsednik (2 for 3, R, 2b, BB, K) and Dewayne Wise (1 for 5, 2K) continued their rehab assignments in Dunedin’s outfield.  A.J. Jimenez (2 for 4, RBI) and Brad Glenn (2 for 4, 2B, RBI) supplied the 2 RBIs on the evening.

Lansing 6 West Michigan 1

Lansing’s infield committed 3 errors, 2 from Bryson Namba and 1 from K.C. Hobson, but Lansing pitching made the difference with  Daniel Webb (W, 1-1).   He worked 7 innings and 4 hit the White Caps, allowing a single run and striking out 4.  Sean Nolin got his first save with 2 innings of 1 hit, 1 K work.

Oliver Dominguez (1 for 3, 3B, 2 RBI) tripled in a pair in the first inning.  Lansing’s other runs were produced by Jonathan Jones (1 for 5, 2B, RBI) who doubled in Namba in the 2nd and Jake Marisnick (1 for 2, R, 3B, RBI) tripling in Carlos Perez (3 for 5, R) who led Dunedin’s multi-hit parade for the evening.
