We knew Boston would start to turn things around. Did it have to be against the Jays?
The Sox took the weekend + Patriot's Day series 3-1, capping things off with a 9-1 slaughtering Monday morning before the Boston Marathon that featured a Canadian winner in the 55-59 category and the fastest marathon time ever (though it's an unofficial record because of a tailwind). The Toronto Marathon is coming up in a few weeks - anyone running it?
Anyway, back to baseball, the boys in blue were manhandled by... Daisuke Matsuzaka? And the Sox scored early and often against... Ricky Romero? You'd be forgiven for thinking the Jays had a major advantage in the final game of the series, but that's not how it turned out. Jose Bautista singled, Yunel Escobar homered, and Travis Snider walked. That was it.
OK, I don't want to just talk about how depressing yesterday was, so let's look on the bright side. How 'bout that Yunel Escobar? He's at .333/.414/.563 through 48 at bats. 10 Ks isn't great, but 8 BBs is pretty darn good.
Tonight the Jays come home for a quick series with the Yankees. The match-ups are as follow:
Tonight: Drabek vs. Burnett
Wednesday: Cecil vs. Colon
Burnett and Colon have both pitched well this year, but, well, that doesn't mean they're good. These could be some high-scoring games.
