Winners Las Vegas and New Hampshire had loud lumber with 10 hits while Dunedin managed only 5 and came up the evening’s loser.  Lansing had their second postponement in as many nights due to field conditions (that soggy Michigan permafrost is really something).

Las Vegas 4  Fresno 1

Ten hits and good defence and great four - hit pitching gave the 51s the advantage in front of 7,400 plus at Fresno.  Randy Boone (1-0) threw five innings of shut-out baseball, allowing only 2 hits and striking out 5.  Rommie Lewis secured the save following a good relief performance by Wil Ledezma.

Top run producer for the 51s was Eric Thames (2 for 4, 2B, 2 RBI). Darin Mastoianni (2 for 5, RBI), Brett Lawrie (2 for 3, 2 2B), and Brian Jeroloman turned in multi-hit performances.  Jason Lane (1 for 5, RBI) threw in an RBI single for good measure.

New Hampshire 8  Trenton 7

The Fisher Cats evened up their season record with a seesaw, error ridden contest in front of a paltry (by NH standards) 2,690 hometown fans.  Matt Daly (1-0) secured the win in 2.2 innings of no hit relief.  Starter Reidier Gonzalez threw 4 innings with 6 hits and 4 unearned runs.  He was his own worst enemy committing two throwing errors.  Mark Sobolewski had a throwing error as well.  Travis d’Arnaud had a passed ball, but picked off the lead-off hitter in the 7th with a rocket throw to Jonathan Diaz.

John Tolisano (2 for 4, RBI) iced the game with a walk off single scoring Mike McDade (1 for 5, 2b) who led off the ninth with a double to left field.  Adeiny Hechavarria (3 for 4, 2b, 2 RBI) was the top run producer as the lead-off batter for the Fisher Cats.  DH Craig Stansbury (1 for 3, 2b,RBI), d’Arnaud (0 for 4, RBI), and Sobolewski (1 for 4, RBI) were R producers as well.  Stansbury stole two bases and Moises Sierra (0 for 4) and Hechavarria added an SB each.

Dunedin 1  Clearwater 3

Dunedin took the 10 minute drive to Clearwater to play for a healthy turnout (by Florida State League standards) of 3,897 at Brighthouse Stadium.  Chad Jenkins (0-1) suffered the loss allowing 3 runs on 6 hits in 7 innings pitched.  Corey Patterson (2 for 3) stole 2 bases and A.J. Jimenez (1 for 4, 2b) stole one.

The Baby Jays’ only score came on a solo dinger by Brad Glenn (1 for 4, HR, RBI) in the 9th.  Kenny Wilson (1 for 3) had Dunedin’s other hit, a single.

Lansing vs West Michigan  (postponed – soggy field conditions – again)

THREE STARS:

Third Star:           Brad Glenn (1 for 4, HR, RBI)

Second Star:       Eric Thames (2 for 4, 2b, 2RBIs)

First Star:            Adeiny Hechavarria (3 for 4, 2b, 2 RBIs, 1 SB)
