Las Vegas, NV - The 51's tuned out the Sounds with nine runs in the sixth inning to snap a 5-5 tie.The man wearing number one for the Las Vegas 51's highlighted a perfect 5-0 night on the farm. Three of the affiliates reached double digits and one just missed while another nearly made it to 20! No problems with the bats on this night!

Batting - Mike McCoy was 5-for-5 with a walk as he hit a home run, drove in three runs and scored four times. That's pretty decent production from the leadoff spot! Jason Lane had four hits with two doubles and two RBI. Jarrett Hoffpauir had two doubles, a home run, a walk and three RBI. Brad Emaus went deep among his two hits, drew a walk and knocked home a pair. Mike Jacobs also sent one over the fence among his two safeties and drove in four runs. Raul Chavez singled, walked, hit by a pitch and drove in two runs. Aaron Matthews doubled, singled and drove in three. Dan Perales singled and walked. Brian Jeroloman did not get a hit but he did draw a walk. That puts the BJBBM to 74, five of those coming with the 51's.
Running - You don't need to steal when you put up 19 runs!
Pitching - Shawn Hill pitched one inning and gave up three runs on four hits but all three outs were on the ground. Merkin Valdez walked one and gave up two hits but struck out a pair in three innings. Josh Roenicke was charged with a blown save but gained the win to improve to 7-0. He pitched two innings and gave up two runs on three hits (including a homer) and two walks and struck out one. Lefty Jesse Carlson gave up two runs on three hits over one inning. Steven Register gave up an unearned run on two hits over two innings but he struck out two.
Defence - Emaus threw one away at third. Matthews threw out former Jay Ray Olmedo at second from left field. The 51's also managed to turn a pair of deuces.
Richmond, VA - The Fisher Cats started fast with a four-run first but the Giants affiliate evened it up after two. New Hampshire took the lead for good with a three-run third and ended the night with by spreading four runs evenly over the last two innings.
Batting - David Cooper, Shawn Bowman and Adeiny Hechavarria all went deep in this one with Bowman reaching the 20-homer plateau. Cooper had two hits, a walk and three RBI. Adam Loewen had a double, single and a walk and Eric Thames clubbed two doubles and drove in a run. Jonathan Diaz had a two-run double and a walk. Hechavarria drew a walk to go along with his homer. "Davey/Onix" Concepion Rodriguez had a single and Darin Mastroianni had a walk so every Fisher Cat reached base once.
Running - No Fisher Cat was daring enough to attempt a steal in this one.
Pitching - Randy Boone gave up four runs on seven hits and two walks over six innings to get the "W". He threw a wild pitch but he struck out a pair and recorded 10 groundball outs. Trystan Magnuson allowed just one hit over two shutout frames. His strikeout and groundout total were three apiece. Ronald Uviedo gave up a run on two hits and a walk and struck out a man over his lone inning of work.
Defence - Cooper made a throwing error at first. Jaspe and Boone were victimized by a stolen base. A pair of 4-6-3 double plays were turned.
Brevard County @ Dunedin - Postponed due to rain.
Midland, MI - The Lugnuts trailed 2-1 after three but they bunched their runs in innings four through six that saw a five-run eruption in the fourth and added two more in the eighth to complete the romp.
Batting - Eric Eiland was a perfect 3-for-3 with a walk, a double, a run batted in and four runs scored. Ryan Schimpf had a double and two singles along with three RBI, including a sacrifice fly. Balbino Fuenmayor had two singles, a walk and two RBI while Michael Crouse also had a two-hit night and a walk. Kevin Ahrens had two hits while Jake Marisnick and Sean Ochinko each had a double and RBI. Justin Jackson added a run-scoring single. Brad Glenn was hitless in five at-bats but he did score a run. Kevin Nolan was 0-for-1 after replacing Ahrens at third.
Running - Eiland stole a base but Crouse was thrown out trying to do so.
Pitching - Matt Fields earned the victory by lasting six innings and giving up two runs (one earned) on eight hits. He struck out five, walked none and split his 10 outs evenly between the ground and the air. In his first Midwest League appearance, Daniel Barnes gave up two hits but struck out a batter over one scoreless inning. Lefty Aaron Loup gave up a run on two hits but struck out a pair in two innings of work. He also uncorked a wild pitch.
Defence - Crouse booted one in right field. Ochinko was 2-for-3 in nailing base stealers with all attempts coming with Fields on the mound. One double play was converted.
Auburn, NY - The Doubledays beat the Cyclones as badly as wrestlers used to beat this ham 'n' egger. Okay, not really. Auburn took leads of 2-0 and 3-2 only to see the Cyclones battle back each time. The D-Days would prevail with the winning run after hearing "Take Me Out To The Ballgame".
Batting - Gustavo Pierre had a 3-for-3 night at the dish, all singles and he laid down a sac bunt. The big hits came from Marcus Knecht and Steven McQuail as they each homered. Knecht drove in a pair and also had a walk. McQuail's dinger in the seventh was the winning run. Jonathan Jones had a double and a plunk. Carlos Perez had an RBI single while Lance Durham and Matt Nuzzo also singled. Markus Brisker drew a walk but Oliver Dominguez did not reach base on four trips to the dish.
Running - Brisker stole a base but Nuzzo was thrown out trying to expand his single into a double.
Pitching - Jesse Hernandez gave up a pair of runs over five innings on four hits and two walks. He struck out five and his groundball-flyball total was 8-1. Josh Outman gave up a hit but struck out a batter and coerced a couple of groundouts in his scoreless frame. Tyler Powell blew the save but got the win by giving up a run on two hits and a walk over one inning. Drew Permison struck out three over two scoreless innings and allowed just one runner to reach on a walk to get the save.
Defence - The Cyclones were 2-for-2 in stolen bases against Perez with Hernandez and Outman on the mound respectively. One DP was turned.
GCL Blue Jays 9 GCL Braves 8
Dunedin, FL - The Braves scored six runs in the third inning to grab a 6-2 lead but the Jays tied it with a four-run fourth and scored once in the fifth and twice in the seventh to hang on for the win.
Batting - Chris Hawkins and Melvin Garcia had three hits apiece, including a triple each. Garcia had a three RBI day but Dalton Pompey was the top slugger by clearing the fence twice and driving in three runs. Ronald Melendez and Daniel Arcila also had two hits and an RBI each. Gari Pena collected a hit, drew a walk and was hit by a pitch while K.C. Hobson doubled and Pierce Rankin singled. Bryson Namba wore an 0-for-5 collar.
Running - The Jays played station to station ball in this one.
Pitching - Noah Syndergaard lasted just 2 1/3 innings and gave up five runs, three of them earned. He gave up four hits and struck out a man. Four of his six outs in play were on the ground. Chris Enourata gave up a solo homer among his five hits in 2 2/3 innings and committed a pair of balks. However, his K-BB mark was 3-0 and he induced four groundouts. Alesone Escalante pitched three hitless innings but he gave up a run by walking a man, plunking two others and committing a balk. He did strike out a pair of hitters to earn the win. Bryan Longpre gave up a solo homer but got the final three outs for the save.
Defence - Namba booted one at third but took part in an 8-3-5 double play started by Melendez. The Braves were successful in their lone steal attempt on the Enourato-Rankin battery.

Not all of the news is good. In case you missed it, the Rochester Red Wings recently renewed their Player Development Contract with the Minnesota Twins for another two years so it appears the Jays are doomed for another two years in the Pacific Coast League. :(
