Brad Glenn made the front page of Minor League Baseball tonight, as a result of hitting for the cycle. The rest of the evening featured 4 wins and 1 loss.
Apologies for the short MLU tonight, but as they say, brevity is the soul of Minor League Updates. I think.
It was " '09 Jays hurlers night" on the mound in Las Vegas. Lefty Marc Rzepczynski allowed one run on three hits (including a homer), two walks and hit a man over 6 2/3 innings. Lefty Jesse Carlson wasn't nearly as effective. He stranded one of Rzepczynski's runners but he gave up two runs on four hits (including a dinger) over 1 1/3 innings. Jeremy Accardo allowed an inherited run to score but he picked up the save by allowing one hit and striking out a batter over one scoreless frame.
Everyone had a hit save for Jarrett Hoffpauir and Manny Mayorson. J.P. Arencibia clubbed his 29th........double of the year to match the same number in the home run column. He got some love on JaysVision (a.k.a. the Jumbotron, the video board, the big TV type thing) during Monday night's game as he was profiled as a future Jay between innings. Dan Perales and Brett Wallace each had two hits, including a double. Wallace, Adam Calderone and Jason Lane each drove in a run. Of note, former Jays Nick Green and Kyle Phillips had a hit for Portland while Josh Barfield, whose dad Jesse was at Monday's game at the Rogers Centre, belted a homer.
Harrisburg 3 at New Hampshire 8
B.J. LaMura was amazing, allowing 1 hit and 1 walk in 6 innings while striking out 6. The bullpen allowed a few runs, but the offense more than compensated. Hech-a-Skech led the way, going 3-5 with a HR and 2 singles while David Cooper and Eric Thames each drove in 3 - Cooper on a single, double and walk, and Thames on a single and a triple.

Dunedin - scheduled day off
Lansing imitated their big brothers in the T Dot with a 9-5 win. Brad Glenn had a huge day, with a single, double, triple, and..... yep, you guessed it, a home run. Glenn's cycle included 3 runs and 3 ribs and he even tacked on a walk to accomplish the rare "Rickey Henderson Cycle". (I totally just made that up based on the first player to come to mind who seems likely to have done it, maybe some intrepid Bauxite can check to see if he actually did!)
A.J. Jimenez also had a good day at the plate - he drove in four on a single and a double. Egan Smith got the start and allowed 4 runs on 9 hits in 6 innings.
Jamestown 11 at Auburn 8
A slugfest in Auburn resulted in a loss for the Doubledays, largely thanks to a poor outing from Daniel Webb (4 IP, 6 ER). The offense made it close, though I'm not really sure how - they only amassed five hits to score their eight runs. Gustavo Pierre hit a homer, and Andy Fermin doubled and walked.
GCL Phillies 1 at GCL Blue Jays 4
This was a team effort from the Baby Jays' pitching staff. Starter Misual Diaz pitched a solid five innings, and four relievers combined to shut out the Baby Phillies for the rest of the game. Carlos Ramirez and Michael Crouse hit homers, while Art Charles doubled twice and walked.
