The Jays Triple-A all-star representative gets the limelight in the world wide web phenomenon known as the Batter's Box POTD. ;D
Congratulations to first baseman/DH Randy Ruiz, who's pictured here on Jays Vision in his first appearance as a Blue Jay at the Rogers Centre. The 32 year-old Bronx Bomber celebrated his first at-bat with a bomb to center field off the Red Sox Josh Beckett August 18th. That was among the 10 homers Ruiz belted during his limited time with Toronto after being called up from AAA Las Vegas. Overall, he batted .313/.385/.635 and added 7 doubles, 17 RBI and a stolen base for you fantasy leaguers.
Collecting awards has become old hat for Ruiz this off-season. In addition to being named to the Topps Triple-A All-Star team, he was also named the Pacific Coast League's MVP and was also selected as Topps PCL Player of the Year. During his time in Las Vegas, Ruiz compiled a batting line of .320/.392/.584 with 43 doubles, 25 homers and 102 RBI.
As an aside, nothing against the good folks at Nestle but I wish there would be a score and well as balls, strikes and outs instead of an mini-advertising billboard in the bottom right hand corner of Jays Vision. I like taking scoreboard shots to capture the exact moment in time of a game.
Come to think of it, I do have a complaint about Nestle. It's in regards to one of the dumbest commercials of all time! Two questions, who writes this stuff and who signs off on it? I can picture the Nestle executives looking at that commercial and saying, "THAT'S IT! THAT'S THE ONE!". I can just imagine the writers meeting when one of them pipes up, "I GOT IT! HERE'S HOW WE END IT! TURN THE GUY INTO A DRUMSTICK!" Of course, they also work in some sexual innuendo at the end. The writers must have just been pissing themselves laughing about that one. Morons!
Bottom line, no advertisements on the damn Jays Vision. That's what the ribbon boards are for! Sorry for venting!
