The big boys were 0-3 on the night but the short-season teams picked up the slack with three wins. Dunedin's game was postponed due to rain.

Albuquerque 12 Las Vegas 6

The Dodgers affiliate peppered the 51s pitchers with 20 hits and scored 12 runs. TJ Beam allowed six runs on 12 hits and one walk over six innings. Brian Wolfe worked two scoreless innings with three Ks, but then Richie Lewis and Zach Stewart were kicked around. At the plate, Howie Clark had four singles. Travis Snider was 3-for-4 with a double, RBI and two walks. Kevin Howard went 1-for-5 with a double and three RBI. Buck Coats was 3-for-6 with two runs scored.

Altoona 3 New Hampshire 2

Sean Smith received the start and allowed two runs on three hits and two walks over four innings. Nate Starner worked 2.2 scoreless innings, while Leon Boyd took the loss after allowing the winning run in the eighth. David Cooper and Al Quintana each had two hits. Cooper had a solo homer. Adam Calderone was 1-for-3 with a triple and a run scored.

Dunedin postponed

South Bend 7 Lansing 2

Chad Beck had another poor start for Lansing with five runs allowed on 11 hits and one walk. He struck out six batters in six innings.  Jonas Cuotto was hit around for two runs in two innings. Tyler Pastornicky went 3-for-4, while Mark Sobolewski had two hits. Justin McClanahan hit his 12th homer. Kenny Wilson stole his 31st base.

Auburn 4 Hudson Valley 2

Hey, a win! Matt Wright threw a nice game with just one run allowed in 5.2 innings of work. He allowed three hits and two walks, while striking out five batters. Jared Wells worked 2.1 scoreless innings. Casey Beck allowed one run in the ninth, but still recorded the save. Kevin Nolan led the offense with three hits, including a double, and he drove in two. Welinton Ramirez continued his solid season with a 1-for-3 night. He also scored two runs.

GCL Jays 1 GCL Tigers 0 (Game 1)

Dennis Tepera no-hit the Tigers' rookie team during a seven-inning game. The college grad walked one and struck out seven. Gustavo Pierre was 1-for-3 with a double and two Ks. Jack Murphy went 1-for-2 with a double, a BB and a K. Oliver Dominguez went 2-for-2 with a solo homer. The Jays really need to stop stacking the rookie league with college players (especially college seniors who are 22-23 years old).

GCL Jays 5 GCL Tigers 3 (Game 2)

Alex Pepe, normally a reliever, started and went 1.2 innings with two Ks. Evan Teague allowed one run in 2.1 innings and struck out five. Felix Moreno allowed two runs (one earned) in two innings. He also struck out three. Shawn Griffith closed the game with his seventh save. At the plate, Nick Zaleski went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI. Luis Hurtado and Gari Pena also had two hits. Pena hit his second pro homer. Yeico Aponte went 1-for-3. Michel Crouse was 0-for-4 with three Ks.

Three Stars:
3. Kevin Nolan for three hits.
2. Howie Clark for four hits.
1. Dennis Tepera, for his no-hitter.
