What did we learn on this night? Some of the prospects can really hit. Everyone brought their bats but the Fisher Cats. And the 51s, but they were off. Sadly, they almost out-performed the Fisher Cats' hitters.
Las Vegas off night
I have to say that I am really not enjoying the affiliation with Las Vegas... I have never felt so disconnected with a franchise given that games begin at 10 p.m. on most nights.
Akron 12 New Hampshire 0
The offensive woes in New Hampshire hit an all-time low tonight as the club managed just one hit on the night. Brad Emaus was 1-for-4. David Cooper was 0-for-4 and made two errors. Chris Gutierrez, back from the DL, was 0-for-2 with a walk and two Ks. Bryan Kervin was 0-for-3. Starting pitcher Randy Boone obviously did not have it on this night as he allowed seven (five earned) runs on five hits and a walk over four innings. Nate Starner also struggled and allowed five runs on five hits and a walk over just one inning. Adrian Martin worked three shutout innings and struck out three batters. The Fisher Cats were facing up-and-coming Indians prospect Jeanmar Gomez, who allowed just one hit and one walk over six innings of work.
Dunedin 8 St. Lucie 5
Ryan Page had one of his better outings for Dunedin. The right-hander allowed just two runs on nine hits (He walked no one) and he struck out two batters over 5.1 innings of work. Trystan Magnuson allowed one run on three hits over 1.2 innings of work. Robert Bell allowed two runs over two innings to finish out the game. Moises Sierra's prospect value continues to climb with a 4-for-4 night, which included two doubles and four RBI. He also walked. Darin Mastroianni, Kevin Ahrens, and Matt Liuzza each had two hits. Justin Jackson was 1-for-2 with two runs scored and two RBI. Mastroianni had a triple and scored a run. John Tolisano had an 0-for-5 night with three Ks.
