Things started off well at the top with Las Vegas creaming Oklahoma, but the other affiliates dropped the ball and went 0-for-3.

Las Vegas 10 Oklahoma City 1

He may have stunk up the joint in Toronto, but Brian Burres had a good night for Las Vegas by allowing no runs on three hits and one walk over six innings of work. He also struck out three batters. Jonah Bayliss worked two scoreless innings with one strikeout. Offensively, Buck Coats, Randy Ruiz, Kyle Phillips, and Brett Harper each had three hits. Both Coats and Harper had two doubles. Harper had four RBI. Good ol' Howie Clark had two hits, as did Jason Lane - who also drove in two. J.P. Arencibia went 1-for-5.

Trenton 5 New Hampshire 3

Reidier Gonzalez just keeps plugging along. He allowed four runs - but just one earned - over six innings. He allowed five hits but did not walk a batter. Gonzalez stuck out two and allowed an unusually-high number of fly balls (9, compared to 7 GBs). Davis Romero, demoted from triple-A, worked two scoreless innings and struck out three. Second baseman Brad Emaus had two hits, as did Brian Jeroloman and Al Quintana. Brian Dopirak had an RBI pinch-hit double. David Cooper was 1-for-4 with a single.

Brevard County 3 Dunedin 0

Andrew Liebel fell to 0-6 but he actually threw a good game by allowing just one earned run on two hits over six innings. He struck out five, but three walks hurt him. Dan Farquhar also struggled with his control and walked two in one inning of work, which led to two unearned runs. Darin Mastroianni continues to play well and he had another two hits, although he was caught attempting to steal. Moises Sierra went 1-for-3 and was hit by another pitch. Manny Rodriguez had two hits. Kevin Ahrens and Jon Jaspe had the only other hits. Justin Jackson was 0-for-4, as was John Tolisano. Both players also had their (11th!) errors of the season. A move to left field is probably not long in coming for Tolisano.

Clinton 6 Lansing 4

Chase Lirette continues his comeback trail from surgery and he allowed just one run on five hits and one walk over five innings of work. He struck out five batters. Yorman Mayora was hit around for two runs in one inning. Hunter Moody and Frank Gailey also allowed runs. Markus Brisker went 1-for-5 but it did not help the average much (.118). Mark Sobolewski played second base and went 2-for-4. Justin McClanahan (playing LF) and Balbino Fuenmayor also had two hits a piece. Fuenmayor had two RBI and jacked a homer. Brian Van Kirk also had a home run.

The Three Stars:
3. Brian Burres for six shutout innings.
2. Brett Harper for three hits and four RBI
1. The June Amateur Draft, which is two weeks away and should help improve the pitching depth in the lower minors
