And we all breathe a big sigh of relief.
Pujols deserved this award. He was easily the best hitter in the NL, and is among the best defensive first basemen in baseball. Ryan Howard, who finished 2nd in the voting, put up shiny HR and RBI totals, and that's about it. In fact, you could make a case that Howard didn't deserve to be in the top 10 in voting.
I don't want to get into a long analysis about that, though. Right now I'm just happy the BBWAA got this one right.
