A good night for the better Jay prospects hitting HRs. Arencibia, Snider and Tolisano each went deep as the affiliates went 3-3 on the night.
Syracuse 7 at Buffalo 8
Not a good night on the mound for Bill Murphy. And really, despite 7 runs and 12 hits the offense wasn't too notable either. A Thigpen double was the only extra base hit. Melilo had three hits while Coats, Watson, and Luna had two each.
Trenton 6 at New Hampshire 4
NH only had 5 hits, but 2 run HRs by Arencibia and Snider yielded 4 runs. I'm not sure what it means, but Arencibia hasn't walked in AA in 64 ABs.
Brandon Magee had a good outing going 6 innings and allowing only an unearned run in the first (although that was due in part to Magee's two errors). Magee struck out just 2 and has 36 Ks in 97.1 innings against 43 BBs. He'll need to get both numbers going in opposite directions to get any kind of sustained success.
Dunedin 7 at Dayton 4
Ray Gonzalez started and pitched ok. He gave up 3 runs over 5 innings, although only K'd 1.
Sanchez had 3 hits, Calderone 2, and Emanuelle 2.
Great Lakes 2 at Lansing 6
Cheng started and pitched 5 solid innings giving up 1 run on 6 hits and 1 BB. He struck out 3.
John Tolisano was the big hitter of the night going 2-4 with 5 RBIs, 3 of which came on a HR. Kevin Ahrens also had 2 hits and has been pretty consistent so far putting up a .269/.335/.370 line. Not great, but pretty good for a HS player drafted last year.
Staten Island 4 at Auburn 2
Auburn managed just 4 hits on the night. The most notable item is that 4th rounder Robert Sobolewski got his first start at 3B after signing. There was a rumor that David Cooper was promoted, but he went 0-4 last night so as of last night he was still in Auburn.
GCL Jays 8 at GCL Tigers 6
Lots of hits for the Jays here. Welinton Ramirez went 4-5 with 2 doubles. He's a 21 year old, 6'2" OF, from the Dominican Republic and is hitting .365/.393/.577. Other than that I don't know much about him.
Talley, R Diaz, and Gonzalez each had 2 hits. Diaz's GCL average is .467 in his 30 ABs since coming back from injury.
3 Stars!:
3 - JP Arencibia & Travis Snider
2 - Welinton Ramirez
1 - John Tolisano
