David Cooper hit his first pro HR last night as the affiliates went 2-3 with a rain out yesterday
Toledo 4 at Syracuse 3
John Parrish took his first loss of the season to go 10-1 (kind of the anti-Magee until last night). However, while he gave up 4 runs, just one was earned. He struck out 4 and walked 1 in 5.1 innings. Old friend Aquilino Lopez started for the Mud Hens and gave up 2 runs in 3 innings striking out 5.
Matt Watson had 3 hits, Coats and Melilio had two and Luna hit a HR.
New Hampshire 4 at New Britain 2
Scott Richmond gave NH a rare strong start going 7 innings and giving up 1 run.
The Fishercats banged out 12 hits on the night. Nielsen had 3 (with a double), Arencibia 2 (double), Butler 2, and Klosterman 2. Travis Snider failed to make contact in 5 PAs, walking once and striking out 4 times.
Dunedin - Postponed
Great Lakes 2 at Lansing 0
Trystan Magnuson held Great Lakes to just 1 run over 5 innings. Interestingly thought he failed to register a K, or walk a batter for that matter.
The Nuts managed 8 hits, but all were singles. Jaspe, Ahrens, and Rodriquez each had 2 hits. Eric Eiland drew two walks.
Mahoning Valley 1 at Auburn 6
The first thing that jumps out in this boxscore is the 6 errors that Mahoning Valley made, including a hat trick by the 3B. The next thing is that the Doubledays scored 0 unearned runs.
Josh Wells, the 6'7" righty from London, started and 1 run over 5 innings. He struck out and walked 2.
David Cooper was 2-3 with a double and a HR, his first in the pros. Nicholas and Van Kirk each also had two hits.
GCL Braves 6 at GCL Jays 4
If not for Cooper, Kevin Denis-Fortier might be in Auburn this season. However, he's making the best of it in Florida. He was 2-4 with 2 doubles and is off to a strong start. No other Jay managed more than one hit.
3 Stars!:
3 - Matt Watson
2 - Scott Richmond
1 - David Cooper
