The Chiefs want Adam Lind back, they only had two hits in a loss. New Hampshire weren't much better, they had three hits through eight innings before doubling their hit total in the ninth and losing 8-1. Lansing were down 6-0 after two innings, and 13-0 after five, and lost as the Lumber Kings lived up to their name. Dunedin saved the day by taking the lead in the top of the ninth before Connor Falkenbach had to work around two errors and an attempted double steal to get the save.
Let's hope the Chiefs players have short memories after this game. Kane Davis, coming off his best start of the season, didn't have it. He pitched three innings and gave up four runs, five hits and three walks in just three innings. Mike MacDonald added two more runs in 3.1 innings.
The Chiefs had one hit through seven six innings. Eric Nielsen tripled to lead off the eighth and scored on a groundout. Syracuse had two hits in the game.
More pitching woes at AA. AJ Wideman gave up three runs in the first innings with three hits allowed, a walk, a steal, an error and a wild pitch. Thereafter Wideman pitched pretty well and left after pitching 6.2 innings with seven hits allowed. Kyle Yates continued his struggles in 2008, he put the first four hitters in the eighth on base. Mike Gallo releived Yates and a ground out and a triple later all four of Yates' runners had scored. An error allowed the runner on third to score and it was 8-0.
The Fisher Cats had six hits but three of them, and the only run, came in the bottom of the ninth. Travis Snider was 1-4 with two K's.
This was a back and forth game. Dunedin scored in the first when David Smith tripled in Brad Emaus who had walked. Lakeland's lead-off hitter homered off Robert Ray in the bottom of the first to tie the game. Ray gave up two runs in the third but Dunedin scored two to tie the game in the fourth. JP Arencibia's single was followed by three walks, scoring one run, and a double play to score another. Ray gave up hits to the first three hitters of the sixth putting Lakeland back in front 4-3. Ray was pulled and Brandon Camerdese pitched out of the jam. Luis Sanchez singled to lead off the seventh and score on a two out single from Brian Dopirak to tie the game at 4. Sean Shoffit ledd off the ninth with a double, was bunted to third and scored on a sac fly by Brad Emaus.
Connor Falkenbach came on to get the save. After a routine first out Sanchez made a throwing error on the next hitter putting a runner on. The next hitter grounded to second but Emaus threw the ball into left field putting runners at first and third. Falkenbach struck out the next hitter and now had two outs with runners on first and third. Lakeland then tried the delayed double steal to try and tie the game. The runner broke from first and got in a rundown, Arencibia threw to the second baseman who threw to the first baseman, Arencibia must have followed the play because Al Quintana moved from third to home to take the throw from the first baseman and tag out the runner trying to score. Dunedin wins 5-4.
The Jays had seven hits, Sanchez had two.
This game started late due to wet grounds. Trystan Magnuson recorded the first two outs before four straight hits and a wild pitch scored three runs. In the second inning a walk, a single and a triple with two outs led to three more and an early shower for Magnuson. Chi-Hung Cheng fared no better giving up seven runs in three innings putting the Lugnuts down 13-0 after five innings. Lansing scored a couple of late runs to avoid a shutout.
Lansing had eight hits. Mastroianni, Rodriguez and Calderone had two hits each.
