For the third night in a row Syracuse were the only winners on the farm. Russ Adams had the hot stick for the Chiefs. Scott Campbell had three more hits for New Hampshire. Gus Chacin was bombed again.
Mike MacDonald started in place of David Purcey and made his first start of the season. MacDonald went four innings and gave up four hits, one of them a solo home run. The Chiefs took the lead in the third inning, Pedro Lopez singled, Wayne Lydon walked and Russ Adams hit a three run home run. Syracuse added a run in the fourthwhen Sergio Santos and Chip Cannon walked, followed by an RBI single by Lopez.
The Chiefs scored again in the fifth, Adams doubled and Hector Luna hit a two run home run. Matt Watson reached on an error, moved to third on a Curtis Thigpen double, and scored on another error. The Chiefs now led 7-1.
It was 8-1 in the mddile of the sxith, Lydon singled, Adams doubled and Watson hit a sac fly. Mike Gosling replaced MacDonald and gave up a solo home run in three innings. Tracey Thorpe pitched a one walk eighth and Brandon League gave up two runs in the ninth.
Syracuse had ten hits, Adams was the star with three extra-base hits, two runs scored and three RBI's. Luna, Thigpen and Lopez had two hits each.
New Hampshire 4 Harrisburg 5 - 11 innings
Jean Machi faced off against ex-Jay Ismael Ramirez. Machi had some trouble with the zone in the first inning, after a one out double he walked three hitters and he was down 1-0. Ismael Ramirez through three innings had only allowed a single to Scott Campbell. But in the fourth Cambell, Eric Nielsen and Kyle Phillips each had a ground ball single but Campbell was thrown out at home plate. Anthony Hatch made sure that wouldn't happen again with his first home run of the year, a three run shot. Machi settled down through the next three innings but in the fifth a single, walk and a double delivered two runs and made it a tie game.
The Fisher Cats took the lead again in the sixth, Campbell (again!) and Nielsen singled and Campbell was driven in with a Jacob Butler single. MAchi was finished after five innings with the three runs conceded on three hits and five walks. Seth Overbey pitched two scorless innings but an Eric Kratz error put a runner on in the eighth. Mike Gallo releived Overbey and a throwing error put the runner at second where he was able to score on a single to tie the game. New Hampshire had a chance to go ahead in the ninth, Butler led off with a double and after two walks the bases were loaded with one out but Chris Gutierrez grounded into a double play. New Hampshire regretted that missed opportunity in the eleventh, Daryl Harang replaced Gallo and after a lead-off walk a triple ended the game. New Hampshire out hit Harrisburg 10-7.
Campbell went 3-5 to keep the hot streak going and raise his average to .458.
Dunedin scored first in the first, Travis Snider walked and Brian Dopirak hit a two run home run. In the fourth Snider walked again, Dopirak singled this time and Cory Patton drove in Snider with a single. With two out Jesus Gonzalez singled to drive in Dopirak and make it 4-0.
Gustavo Chacin started for Dunedin trying to get back on track. He pitched three scoreless innings but the wheels came off in the fourth, Chacin gave up a lead-off home run followed by four more hits and an error leading to a total of five runs to put the Jays down 5-4. The same lead-off hitter for Clearwater hit another solo home run in the fifth and it was 6-4 for the Phillies. Chacin pitched 5 innings and allowed eight hits. Chacin was followed by Brandon Camardese making his 2008 debut. Camardese was a free agent signing and he pitched two shutout innings.
The Jays had six hits, Dopirak had two. Snider was 0-2 with two walks.
Lansing got out of the gates fast as they have most of the season. Justin Jackson singled, went to second on a wild pitch, and scored on a Kevin Ahrens single. After Darin Mastroianni walked Jon Jaspe singled to load the bases, Manny Rodriguez doubled to score two more, and a fourth run scored on a passed ball. Luis Perez started and had runners on base in each of the first three innings. In the fourth he gave up three runs on five hits and his own error. Perez gave up three more in the fifth and was replaced by Randy Boone who allowed a solo home run in the sixth. Lansing did not have a baserunner from the third to the sixth innings and did not have a hit from the third inning until Rodriguez singled with one out in the ninth.
Ahrens and Rodriguez had two hits each.
