Dunedin had the best showing last night, and they didn't even play. The affiliates went 0-3 on the night.
Syracuse 4 at Rochester 9
Josh Banks was done in by a tough 5th inning. Up to that point he had given up 1 run through 4. However, Rochester struck for 6 runs in the 5th as Banks lost his control and was helped by a Pedro Lopez's fielding error. Banks gave up a walk, single, walk, and hit a batter. Lopez's error kept the inning rolling and then Banks gave up a Howie Clark triple and a double by Matt Marci. So on the night it was 7 runs, but just 2 earned for Banks. He struck out three, walked two, and had a 5/6 ground ball/fly ball out ratio.
The Chiefs had 6 hits on the night. Chip Cannon had two (single, double) and Russ Adams had the other XBH with a home run.
New Britain 7 at New Hampshire 2
AJ Wideman got the start here. He had an interesting line as he gave up just two hits in 5 innings, but walked 6 against 2 Ks. Mike MacDonald and Jo Matumoto split the final 4 innings giving up 1 and 4 runs respectively.
The Fisher Cats managed just 5 hits on the night, with the only extra base hits being an Eric Kratz HR and Kyle Phillips double.
Dunedin - Off Day
Lansing 2 at Burlington 6
Again just 5 hits for the Jays affiliate here. Darin Mastroianni had two of them, including a triple and a stolen base. John Tolisano had a triple and Justin Jackson stole two bases.
Trystan Magnuson started for the Nuts and pitched two innings, giving up 4 in the first. Like Banks many of the runs were unearned. A Kevin Ahrens fielding error kept the first inning alive and allowed three more runs to score (although Magnuson allowed two hits after the error).
Cheng came on in the third and ended up pitching 5 innings. He gave up two runs on three hits and two walks. Cheng struck out 5.
Three Stars!:
3 - Eric Kratz
2 - Russ Adams
1 - Darin Mastroianni
