Five wins as the Dunedin Jays game was suspended. New Hampshire had a big win to keep them in the playoff hunt as Kyle Yates delivered a huge start. New Hampshire are playing their playoff rival Portland and Ricky Romero couldn't help the team on Friday making Saturdays game even more important. Yates shut down Portland as the Fisher Cats built a big lead and cruised to the win. Auburn also won to strengthen their playoff hopes. Syracuse won in the bottom of the ninth, John Tolisano propelled the GCL Jays to a win and Lansing wins in a team effort.
The Chiefs scored a run in the bottom of the ninth to get the win. With one out Ryan Roberts tripled; Ottawa intentionally walked Adam Lind; Hector Luna grounded to third with Roberts out at the plate; but John-Ford Griffin saved the day with a single to centre to win. Jeremy Cummings started and gave up three runs, of note Jamie Vermilyea got the win by recording five strikeouts in two innings.
The Fisher Cats continued their playoff battle with Portland and Kyle Yates came through in a big way. While Ricky Romero wasn't able to keep his team in the game on Friday, Yates pitched a three hitter over 6.1 innings as New Hamsphire built a 6-0 lead. Dustin Majewski and Aaron Mathews led off the first inning with back to back home runs. Majewski and Matthews each singled and scored in the third inning and Mathews drove in the last run with a ground ball in the fourth. In addition to Majewski and Mathews, David Smith and Juan Peralta had two hits each.
Dunedin at Lakeland
Game suspended after two innings with Dunedin leading 2-1. Anthony Hatch led off with a triple, Carlo Cota followed with a double and then Kyle Philips singled to make it 2-1 before Lakeland came to bat.
Lansing were up 3-0 after two innings. In the first inning Scott Campbell walked, Sean Shoffit tripled and Travis Snider doubled. Scott Campbell singled to drive in a run in the second. Edward Rodriguez made the spot start and held Great Lakes off the board until he tired in the fourth and the Loons scored two. Chris Reddout relived and pitched four innings of one hit ball to get the win. Jon Jaspe had three hits, Campbell, Shoffit, Lane and Nelson had two hits each.
Auburn scored three runs in the second and two in the fourth with the common theme being a JP Arencibia double. Arencibia went 3-4 with two doubles. Kyle Walter got the win, he gave up three runs in five innings.
John Tolisano scored the first two runs for the Jays, one a solo home run, his tenth. Tolisano was 3-4 and is hitting .246 on the season. Chris House added a three run home run in the third to make it a 5-0 game. Joel Carreno pitched well again, five innings, two hits, eighth K's, and his ERA is 2.62. At twenty years old he has made a good start to playing in North America.
