Syracuse had four hits as Josh Banks took the loss. Auburn had four hits as Kyle Walter took the loss. Lansing had five hits as Zach Dials pitched well and Po Keng took the loss. New Hampshire had seven hits as Kurt Isenberg took the loss. Dunedin had nine hits as Russ Savickas lost in relief. A bad day on the farm, it was tough to find the three stars.
The half way mark of the minor league season passed this week. Lansing and Dunedin have moved into their second halves still looking for a playoff spot. Syracuse and New Hampshire are seven and eight games behind respectively and need a big run to have a shot at the playoffs. Auburn have been a consistent playoff team for the Jays, this year without a full complement of college players they might be pushed harder.
Josh Banks pitched six innings and allowed four runs on eight hits, one a home run. Jim Crowell gave up the other four runs. Chase Wright held the Chiefs to three hits in seven innings. Wayne Lydon had two hits and a walk, the rest of the Chiefs had two hits.
Kurt Isenberg pitched well through four, he allowed a solo home run in the second. But he gave up a two run home run in the fifth and two more in the sixth. Jo Matumoto gave up three more runs. Knuckleballer Charlie Zink held the Fisher Cats at-bay. Chip Cannon's had two hits off Zink including an RBI single. New Hampshire had seven hits in this game, Dustin Majewski hit a solo home run in the ninth. Connor Falkenbach and Russ Savickas were both sent to Dunedin.
A repeat of yesterday and another bullpen loss. Dunedin tied the game with a run in the top of the eighth but Russ Savickas gave up a game winning home run in the bottom of the eighth. AJ Wideman had started and gave up the other five runs on eleven hits in six plus innings. Dunedin had nine hits, one by each starter. Brian Jeroloman had two walks to go with his hit, he now has fifty walks and 40 hits. Chris Gutierrez hit his first home run of the year.
Zach Dials pitched very well, he had a one hitter, a home run, through five innings and a two hitter through six. Dials did give up two singles in the seventh and finished with four hits and one run allowed in seven innings. Po-Hsuan Keng struggled giving up five runs in an inning on five hits, two doubles, a triple, a double and a single, obviously he wasn't fooling anyone. Lansing's run came in the third inning, Scott Campbell singled and Yuber Rodriguez doubled. Campbell scored on a Snider groundout, but Travis was 0-4 after an 0-5 day yesterday. Snider might be tired as he played in the all-star game and was in the home run derby this week.
Kyle Walter had a rough start to the game, he gave up three runs in the first inning on three hits and a walk. After that he pitched four more innings allowing one more hit and two more walks. Drew Taylor pitched 3.2 hitless innings. Auburn had only four hits, Adam Calderone went 2-4 with two doubles.
