No one is rooting for him, but Manny Mayorson led the Fisher Cats to
victory with the big hit. The farm affiliates were a perfect 2-0
on the night.

When you're hot, you're hot, and the Fisher Cats are hot.
Last night, it was the lesser lights who shone. Manny Mayorson
tripled, singled and drew 2 walks, including what may be the first
intentional walk of his career, to lead the Cat offence, and Aaron
Mathews, David Smith and John Schneider played key supporting
roles. The Cats trailed 5-4 after 5 innings, but doubles from
Mathews (.367/.446/.551 on the season) and Schneider in the sixth tied
the score, and Mayorson's RBI triple in the bottom of the eighth was
the game-winner. Jo Matumoto pitched 1.2 perfect innings for the
win. He has now thrown 9.1 scoreless innings, allowing 3 hits and
1 walk wiht 7 strikeouts. The 36 year old lefty "rookie" is ready for
promotion any time. Jean Machi earned the save. Mike MacDonald
started and gave up all 5 B-Met runs in the first 3 innings, but was
victimized by 3 Cat miscues. He held on to throw 6.1 innings, and
allowed 3 hits and 3 walks while striking out 4. Robinson Diaz
singled and doubled and drove in 3, while Chip Cannon's early season
struggles continued as he went 1-5 and made 2 errors. Sergio
Santos took an 0-5, and struck out once.
The Cats have won 4 in a row and are now 10-5, but trail the Trenton Thunder by 3 games.

Orlando Trias threw 7 solid innings and Jacob Butler (.295/.419/.508 on
the season including 11 walks and 7 strikeouts) hit his 3rd homer to
lead the D-Jays to victory. Trias shut out the little Yankees for
six innings. Butler opened the score with a 3rd inning solo
shot. The Jays added a couple more on a run-scoring double by
Eric Nielsen and a David Corrente sacrifice fly in the sixth.
After Trias (7 innings, 1 earned run, 5 hits, 1 walk, 3 strikeouts)
faltered in the seventh, Kristian Bell and Conor Falkenbach came on to
each hurl a scoreless frame to close out the win. Cory Patton
went 1-2 with 2 walks and threw out a baserunner, as did Adam
Calderone.
