Bleah.
It all went well for a while as the Jays took an early lead behind some strong A.J pitching. The yankees big bats got going eventually though and Burnett was tagged for a couple of two-run dingers, and then Brandon League leaked a few more runs in the ninth. The Jays put up some resistance in the final frame, with a Glaus three
run shot bringing them within a run as Torre Le-Russa'ed his way
through his bullpen. It was just too little too late though.
Star of the Game: His Jeter-ness got one of those big clutch hits that make the Griffins of the world go all gushy.
Unsung Hero: Sparky was his typical self in the early going, hit by a pitch to start things off in the first, he went on to knock in two of the Jays early runs on a ground-out and a double to left.
Boxscore:
Congratulations Carlos: King Carlos is going to the playoffs for the first time in his career. It couldn't happen to a nicer guy, shame he couldn't have done it with Toronto, but still. Click on the link for a brilliant picture of the man celebrating.
Elsewhere in the East: Erik Bedard picked up his fifteenth win, with a typical strong seven Inning start against the Rays, three RBI's from Carey patterson were all the offense the O's needed to overcome Tim Corcoran.
Today: Marcum against Karstens.
