The Dunedin hometown faithful had their hearts broken in the ninth inning.

St. Lucie 7 @ Dunedin 5

The Jays took a 5-4 lead to the top of the ninth, but Milton Tavarez and T.J. Gornati couldn't hold it.  Dunedin scored three times in the second inning to break on top.  Aaron Mathews' 2 run double off 17 year old Mets' starter Deolis Guerra was the big blow of the frame. Kurt Isenberg pitched fairly well, but gave up a 2 run homer in the 4th, a single run in the fifth to tie, and then a solo shot in the top of the 7th inning.  His final line of 7 innings, 6 hits, 1 walk and 8 strikeouts was none too shabby.  The Jays took him off the hook by scoring a couple of runs after the stretch on Robinson Diaz' 2 run double, until the roof collapsed on them in the ninth. Mathews, Diaz and Eric Nielsen each reached base 3 times to lead the offence.  I have marked down Guerra's name in my notebook of prospects to watch.

In other news, the Lansing Lugnuts learned that their opponent in the next round of the playoffs  will be West Michigan who shut out Fort Wayne 3-0.

3 stars:

3rd star- Kurt Isenberg
2nd star- Aaron Mathews
1st star- Robinson Diaz
