3 wins in 4 tries for Toronto’s affiliates.
Ismael Ramirez started and went 7 excellent innings for Syracuse, allowing just 2 runs on 4 hits and a walk, somehow managing to not strike out a single batter. Rob Cosby hit a 2-run homer, Ryan Roberts a solo shot, and Chad Mottola had 2 hits.
Portland rallied for 2 runs in the bottom of the seventh off Tracey Thorpe for the win. This game was originally scheduled as the first of a double-header, but the second game was cancelled after Portland clinched a playoff spot earlier in the day on a Binghamton loss. Thorpe’s blown save cost Dave Purcey a win, as he went a strong 6 innings allowing a run on a solo homer – 5 hits total, 4 walks and 5 Ks. New Hampshire totaled just 4 hits, none of them for extra bases.
Dunedin: Scheduled off day.
Jason Armstrong smacked a double and a single, Jacob Butler a pair of singles. Hector Delgadillo started a allowed a solitary run over 4 innings.
Plenty of offence for the Doubledays as Luke Hopkins, Brian Jeroloman, and Raul Barron each had 2 hits, including a pair of doubles for Jeroloman.
Three Star Selection!
The Third Star: Ryan Roberts and Rob Cosby, Syracuse. Homers.
The Second Star: Brian Jeroloman, Doubledays. Double-Double.
The First Star: Ismael Ramirez, Syracuse. A fine start.
