Ricky Romero recorded his first double-A win, tossing 6 innings of 5-hit 1-run ball. He walked 4 and struck out 3. Tracey Thorpe collected his 12th save with a spotless ninth. Dustin Majewski and Ryan Patterson each had 2 hits including a double.
Danny Core was outstanding for 6 shutout innings, limiting the Tigers to 2 hits and 2 walks while punching out 7. Robinzon Diaz (3 hits including a double), Eric Nielsen (2 doubles), and Cory Patton (single and 2 walks) led the attack.
The Lugnuts only managed one extra-base hit (a Brian Pettway double) and only one Nut had 2 hits (David Hicks) as they fell to the Whitecaps. Adrian Martin gave up the 3 runs over 5 frames. Po-Hsuan Keng worked 2 1/3 no-hit innings, walking 2 and striking out 1.
Brandon Magee led the Doubledays to victory in the opener of a double header with 6 innings of 6 strikeout ball, allowing just an unearned run on 4 hits and a walk. Seth Overbey gave out one free pass in garnering his 4th save. 2B Scott Campbell and CF Adam Calderone each rang out two hits, one of Calderone’s being a 2-bagger.
The nightcap saw only RF Jonathan Baksh putting up a fight, with a single and a triple in 3 trips to the dish. Wilfreddy Aguirre surrendered 2 runs over 4 innings, Scott Byrnes 2 over 1.
