ALOMAR DIVISION:
Going into the weekend, my Austin Senators trailed the mighty Toronto Walrus 11-1-0, and I told my wife I was in danger of having consecutive 1-11 weeks after never having any in the previous 74. (If you want to strengthen your relationship with your wife, complain to her about your sorry fantasy baseball team. Truly a foolproof method. She told me: “Honey, I’ve never felt so close to you as when you ranted about Craig Counsell’s oh-for-fifteen skid. Now, let me bring you a glass of wine and massage your feet.”) By the earthshaking force of pure dumb luck, my scrubby one-shot pitchers (Casey Fossum, anyone) bested his regulars and gave me several unforeseen wins leading to an undeserved 6-6-0 tie. Lesson: wins and losses can change on a whim, so never give up.
Anyway, the real news is the ascension of Edmonton Deceptions to first place. Mebion Glyndwr had led the division since Week 2, but a few mediocre week’s followed by last week’s 1-10-1 trouncing at the hands of Ghost Man On Third have dropped them to fourth. As fate would have it, the Decepticons play Glyndwr this week in the marquee matchup. The Mighty Midgets thumped AGF 8-4-0 in last week’s matchup.

BARFIELD DIVISION:
The Moscow Rats and Pohnpei Papayas delivered a superior marquee matchup. Both teams finished among the top 40 in roto points out of 1,040 games-weeks in Barfield history. The Papayas earned a hard-fought 7-5-0 victory on the strength of a ridiculous 125 innings pitched, the most in BBFL history. They also tied the Barfield record for pitching wins. The Rats slugged .529 and swept the pitching rate stats. Elsewhere, Magic rolled onward toward promotion with a 10-2-0 defeat of Pistol Nine. This week features the #5 Team Junior Felix against #7 Burlington Mazsters.

CARTER DIVISION:
Both marquee matchups went to the “underdogs” as the #6 BSL Blue Sox defeated #1 Sexy Underpants 8-3-1 and #5 Chico’s Bail Bonds clobbered the #3 Blocked Youngsters 10-2-0. BSL gained five games in the standings but none in the rankings, while the Bail Bonds have climbed to third. The Wedding Singers pulled from within eight games to just 3.5 of the leading Underpants. This week, the Singers take on the Bail Bonds in a genuine marquee matchup. Down the ladder a bit, the #11 Shining Force battle #12 Roseneath Rockets, with the winner having an opportunity to climb several places in the standings.
