Davis Romero led the Fisher Cats to their 5th win in a row, this time
over the Portland Sea Dogs, as the farm affiliates went 1-1 on a
rain-soaked Friday in the East.

Davis Romero was in and out of trouble, but threw 6 shutout innings
to move to 4-2 on the season. He walked 4 and struck out 6, and
gave up 5 hits, as he lowered his ERA to below 2. Chip Cannon
homered in the 2nd inning, and then the Cats scored a couple of
unearned runs in the 3rd with David Smith's triple sandwiched between 2
errors. Curtis Thigpen reached base in all three of his plate
trips, with two singles and a hit by pitch. David Smith threw out
a runner at first to record a double play, in addition ot contributing
his triple. Adam Lind took an 0-fer. Jason Arnold and Tracy Thorpe
pitched the last 3 innings in fine fashion, with Thorpe throwing a
perfect ninth including two punch-outs.
Dunedin 2 @ Palm Beach 5
The D'Jays had plenty of baserunners, but four double plays were
their undoing. Aaron Mathews went 4-4 with a double, a triple and
a stolen base, while Robinson Diaz and Eric Nielsen had two hits
each. Orlando Trias started and was rocked for all five Cardinal
runs in 3 innings of work. T.J. Gornati and Justin James held the
fort admirably to give their mates a chance to catch up.
