The Dunedins are done, the Doubledays are drawing to a close
Playoffs: Dunedin 0 @ Lakeland 1
When your starter goes 6 innings allowing 3 hits while striking out 10 and is backed up by shutout relief, you expect to win. Unfortunately, one of those hits Kyle Yates allowed was a solo homer, and the Tiger pitching was equally dominant. Carlo Cota was the only Jay hitter worth mentioning – a single and a double in 4 trips. So ends the Blue Jay season, dropping their best-of-three division series in two straight.
Not much of note in the DoubleDay’s second-last regular season contest. Bobby Ray had a rare off night, allowing 4 runs in 4 innings, as did relievers Jesse Litsch (2 unearned runs on 2 hits and a walk) and Paul Phillips (2 earned on 2 hits and a walk). Peter Eberhardt and Edward Rodriguez tossed a scoreless frame each.
SS Chris Gutierrez had two hits, while RF Brian Pettway had a double in 2 AB and Marshall Bernhard had a pinch-hit RBI double.
Let’s repeat what Ryan said yesterday: With only one team still in regular season action, there isn't much to choose from. But thanks to our new weighting system, the awardees won't pick up too many points either.
The Third Star: Brian Pettway
The Second Star: Marshall Bernhard
The First Star: Chris Gutierrez
