Lawton Order: An Actual Trade

Reports indicate the Yankees have traded A-Ball Staten Island hurler Justin "I'm Not Dave" Berg to the Cubs for former two-time All-Star OF Matt Lawton.

A few questions ...

  1. Will this be the biggest deal of the August post-"trading deadline" period?
  2. Does the acquisition of Lawton, who can't reasonably play a better CF than Tony Womack (and that's saying something) mean Hideki Matsui is headed to Joe D's and Mickey's old digs in The Stadium?
  3. Does this help the Yankees or is it mostly just paper-shuffling?
  4. This is the second time Lawton has been traded during this season. Do you have any memories of players being dealt (not just released) multiple times during one season and actually helping the team they ended up with?
