Tough night on the farm as only Auburn could scrape up a win while Ricky Romero was roughed up in his home debut in Dunedin.
Syracuse 0, Pawtucket 7
Zach Jackson got another shot at AAA hitters but things didn't get any easier. He only lasted 4.1 innings and gave up 6 runs on 7 hits and 4 walks. 5 of the runs against Jackson came in the fifth inning where a Roberto Petagine 3 run shot and a Dave Berg single drove him from the game. Berg eventually came around to score with Spike Lundberg on the mound. Lee Gronkiewicz struck out 2 in a perfect ninth and seems to be settling down nicely in AAA. The Chiefs managed only 3 hits all night.
Trenton 5, New Hampshire 3
Ismael Ramirez had a fine start, lasting 6.2 innings and striking out nine. His only real mistakes were the two solo shots he gave up. Bubbie Buzachero took the loss as he was charged with 2 runs in the eighth. Ron Davenport had a good night, falling a triple short of the cycle. Ryan Roberts and Brad Hassey had two hits apiece as well.
St. Lucie 4, Dunedin 3
Ricky Romero got his third start as a professional and lasted 3 innings. The first two were uneventful for the most part but the third inning saw Romero yield 3 runs on a pair of long balls. The D'Jays tied it up in the 8th on a solo home run from Mike Snyder, his 2nd of the year. Brad Mumma threw 2 innings striking out 4 but took the loss after giving up a solo home run in the ninth.
Burlington 5, Lansing 4
Anthony Sanders opened up the scoring with a 2 run double in the first to give the Lugnuts an early lead followed by 2 more runs in the fourth. Meanwhile, Po-Hsuan Keng held the fort and pitched 5 innings allowing only 2 runs and left with a 4-2 lead. Jordan Timm then took over and lasted 3 shutout innings, striking out 5. However, Joey McLaughlin was charged with the blown save after giving up a 2 run homer. The Nut's lost it in the first extra innings on a passed ball by David Corrente.
Auburn 3, Staten Island 1
The Doubledays only managed 3 hits but made them count. They took an early lead thanks to a 2 run shot from Cory Patton and never looked back. Kristian Bell pitched 7 shutout innings for the win and Paul Philips allowed one run in his 2 innings for the save.
